The more I listen to this album, the more I like it. It was meh at first, definitely a grower for me. Doomswitch was an immediate hit whereas the rest were growers for me.

This album is exactly what i wanted it to be. All of the weird melodies and sick guitar parts are why i love this band. I was a bit conflicted about the order of the songs at first but the more i listened to this album the more i loved it. Saw a couple people say that the mix was weird and it sounded ''crystal clear'' and overproduced but i think its good. Maybe its because i've been listening to MTS pretty much non-stop for over a year now so that's what i got used to. I don't know how but every album and single this band has ever released has been exactly my kind of sound. This album is my AOTY so far (with Knocked Loose right behind) and Small Town Syndrome is definitely a SOTY contender.

There are a lot of opinions about this album. Overall, I think it's not a bad album. Personally for me it is a case when I wasn't a fan of most pre-album singles and I prefer some new songs on the album. I can also sense that some parts of that album don't match stylistically because of it and because of expectations, while it seems like it wasn't meant to be a diverse album. Overall, people will always use "generic" towards anything because they want too much, apparently. I think some riffs on this album are really good, and there are some really good songs, but the main problem of this album is that almost half of the album was released before the actual album, and it broke the intrigue and interest as well as expectations. Before you say something like "OH YOU SHOUD NOT LISTEN TO SINGLES AND JUST LISTEN TO FULL ALBUM WHEN IT'S RELEASED," nah mate, pre-album singles ARE MEANT to be listened to, whatever you say. This may be profitably for a band, but you need to find a perfect balance for this in this particular case. Take for instance the latest album of Imminence, literally the same thing, except Imminence is a worse example because of interludes. I would say that some part of this album is definitely a grower, but there is also a big part of moments that don't seem as memorable.

I think the non-single songs have huge Worlds Apart vibes. I was so surprised to see a lot of hate online

Very valid critique! having been a fan since lord of woe, I was a bit bummed at first to see the formulaic transition to what they're doing now. I will say though, this album is definitely growing on me, and alex is such a fantastic addition i'm so thrilled. It's funny you mention not necessarily caring the way that some of the choruses are written, when actually for me that's one of the standouts of their songwriting (especially ghost of me sweet jesus). Overall, glad to have them still making music after all these years

I fucking love this album, the MTS formula is distinctive but doesn't get tiring, they manage to have some real fun on this one and you can tell. Oddly a lot of people not so into No hard Feelings, but that's my favourite!

You started the video and i was like "who is that NERD??" :D :D :D :D I've checked it today too. And i quite like it!!! It has its own atmosphere.

My only issue was being way too familiar with half of the album before release. But from the new stuff the two song packages of "No Hard Feelings" with "Venusian Blues" and then "Tether" with "Small Town Syndrome" are amazing. Also feels weirdly satisfying to hear Sean call out their name at the end of "Weaponized"

This seems to be a reoccurring issue with modern releases. Kinda sucks

banger after banger after banger, Make them Banger!!!!! IMO one of the albums of the year, with Caligula´s Horse, Allt and Any Given Day

The only thing I can see myself getting the ick from for this album is the consistent song title callouts. Can be overused.

OMG GUYS I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! HE SAID THE NAME OF THE TITLE IN THE CHORUS AND ALTHOUGH IT'S A GREAT CHORUS, THAT MAKES THE SONG A MID/10 FROM MID THEM SUFFER REEEE 🤓☝️

I never understood the music of this group and still don’t get into it, I tried to start listening but it doesn’t grab me at all
@schizoidkid6662 ай бұрын
Never heard a song from them prior to the release of ghost of me so no idea how they used to sounds but it’s a decent album. Probably not gonna listen to it specifically just throw some of it into the playlist. My issue is that on the first few listens some songs sound very samie and the tone of the male vocalist gets stale quite quickly for me. I prefer vocalists that use multiple tones and techniques

Anyone hearing a Hoobastank kinda vibe in the Tether chorus?

It's nothing ground breaking but definitely a great album. Mana God is kinda mid and Oscillator reminds me too much of Doomswitch but other than that very enjoyable metalcore. No Hard Feelings, Doomswitch and Epitah are my top 3 of this album. If it was up to me I would have added Contraband to the album as well. 🤭

I was so dissapointed by this album and just MTS recently. Theyve lost the oomf they had, and I cant work it out. It feels to me MTS did what Silent planet did on their most recent - took away a lot of their uniqueness and replaced it with generic stuff + electronic influence, just because Northlane were successful with it doesn't mean every band has to. Also, while the new singer can sing, I don't think there's a single chorus on this album that I "love" like a lot of their older stuff.

Listening to your review hits it on the head - they took the formula and just repeated it. It's not enough for me anymore, maybe I'm just picky.

So, this album just feels like a parody of Make Them Suffer. Lots of energy, fun riffs, and crushing vocals… but it all just feels meaningless. I hope nothing but the best for them, but they’re never topping Old Souls for me.
@TheHIOJK2 ай бұрын
you just said the album had lots of energy, fun riffs, and crushing vocals which are statements that gave the album meaning, but then turn around and say it's meaningless? I'm not sure I'm following here.
@MrDoBaKflips2 ай бұрын
@ that’s fine, I’m not sure I follow my own thoughts. It’s hard to describe when you like the sound a song puts out, but you don’t feel the need to return.
