Very much on the same page as you. I can't help but imagine hearing this album having heard none of the singles, even with the similar sound having it all fresh would be unrivalled.

It’s a 10/10 for me but I’m quite easy to please. I hope I get to see these guys live some day.

Saw them twice already, but only as Support 25 - 30 Minutes. They crushed it, but would love to see a full headline Show by them

Saw them as support for parkway drive, when doomswitch and ghost of me were the only singles out. They went fucking insane. Way better than Northlanes performance, and rivaling Amity Affliction. Parkway drive obviously blew the fucking roof off the place lmao. But yes, they are hype asf

So I’m the only person who has this as a perfect masterpiece? Bro every song gets me hyped af. INSANE vocals from Sean on every single song
@robbomcrobbersonАй бұрын
hell no bro, i’m with you!! I love it!! it bleeds perfectly through and they spaced out the singles so that if you didn’t revisit it, the album plays through itself! every song has been on repeat since release for me!
@piercent218Ай бұрын
I completely agree. While I absolute love their older stuff. I was listening to this album on my way to and from work. And I said to myself in my truck “This album is a masterpiece in my eyes.” Not a single song I would skip which is rare. Just gets me hyped.

I've only listened to Doomswitch before the release of this project, and I'm so glad I did. Album's been on repeat ever since it came out, I absolutely adore everything about it.
@lancehildebrand4025Ай бұрын
Totally agreed. It seems like they pour their hearts out into finding a really unique sound, Ether, 27/Hollowed Heart, and as you said Doomswitch - then they just rinse and repeat. Which, had they jumped straight from their Lords of Woe/Neverbloom era, I would get it. They're used to making one consistent sound and excel at that. But Old Souls was in between those jumps and it just had so much variety (almost frustratingly so to the old fans) its made every release after feel like "oh yeah it's a weaker version of that really good single". This time its perhaps more frustrating than with How to Survive, with the allure of a stronger electronics and more prominent second vocalist, only to just hit one gear and stick in it the whole time.

MetalBirb with the Sheamus video to open the reaction was an unexpected surprise to be sure, but a welcome one

I think they didn't wanna go full on with Alex that much but I do reckon if this album gets the notoriety it deserves i honestly think they'll switch it up more often, I honestly think they were just testing the waters with this album.

It's definitely a 10/10 for me but that's me being bias cause I love make them suffer seen them 5 times live already 😂

7.4 - 8.0 is exactly the rating that the album deserves, especially in comparison with previous albums

That was fun!!! Like listening with a friend to a band that you both like. And I agree with you: Banger after banger but a bit more diversity and experimentation would have been nice. Would do again 8/10

Definitely agree with the waterfall release sentiment. If I listen to pretty much any of these songs on their own I think they slap, but as an album experience I was a little let down with the whole thing having the same vibe throughout. I love the electronics added but with the mix the way it is, a lot of things felt like they almost blended too much and it made the vocals a little hard to pick out at times aiding again to that same feeling throughout. Unfortunately the pauses in Weaponized also broke the flow for me and it immediately killed the hype train upon the album start, I wish a more fluid and bouncy song started the album. I know that all sounds pretty harsh but I still think it was great, I just am confident they could be even better than they already are!
@DeletiriumАй бұрын
1000%. The pauses killed it for me, and it felt like a drop that just never came. Drops are supposed to be an on switch, not a slow trickle.
@hsblackbird4732Ай бұрын
@@Deletirium Yeah exactly. Personally I think it's pretty rare that a short intro song works in an album because the song that follows has to almost match that hype energy perfectly. The only one I can think of in recent memory that actually works for me is Harbinger into Nightmare from Polaris but to fair as well Harbinger isn't even really just an intro, it's an actual standalone song. They specifically wrote it so that it would stand on it's own and I think MTS could've benefited from merging an intro into a full song as it would force them to carry that vibe. I'll be really curious to see how they take the sound they've developed along with critiques into their next album because they've obviously found a solid formula
@levischorpioenАй бұрын
@@Deletirium There was no drop. It's kinda weird judging a song for something it never planned to do.

I'm glad I saved Oscillator and Mana God for the album release, it made the album more enjoyable. Still not feeling this is them at their best work holistically but the bangers are very present.

I've listened to this album probably 10 times now and still wish that Weaponized slapped me in the face harder. The Warning was a great buildup and Weaponized fell flat for me.
@AlexP-oj5ifАй бұрын
After multiple listens, it has definitely grown on me. We’ll see where this is in a few months. Overall not as great as the singles but definitely work well in their own way. Like to see where they go sound wise.

i wonder if we will get a sort of heavener definite edition thing going after this, the album really pushes the live show energy.
@d.hodgskyАй бұрын
I've commented this on other videos but I can see myself potentially getting the ick from the song title being repeated in the songs so much. Solid 5/7 album though.
@utd1978Ай бұрын
Great album but not enough songs on it, everyone heard 50per cent of the songs already so was only five unheard tracks which ain't enough
