I can accept a missing driveshaft and them pushing it into the building (you know if breaks on its way there, problems with the tune or if not all the quirks are combed through), shit i can even accept a car where it isn't running or a work in progress but then i also need the fabrication and body works to be the main attraction (an example from this year is the V10 Range Rover). But if you show up with a built where the entire project is centered around "i put big engine with turbo into a car where it won't fit", then why are you here to show it off when its not even 20% done. You mounted the engine (which i believe was a LS and not a Lambo V10 as he wanted people to believe), all he had done was mount the engine and turbo and cut the hood and headlights. And sure that's a lot of work and impressive in its own right, he clearly thought we all are TikTok car enthusiast that we wouldn't recognize the Bluetooth connections and frankly less then acceptable work over all. Its just sad because there was so many car builders and shops who showed up with beautiful cars and insane projects so here are some examples • Toyota’s Celica GT-Four-themed GR86 (i love rally) • Renault Dauphine with a VR6 • 1972 Toyota Celica with V12 • Staga 1967 Chevy Chevelle • 1970 Chevelle "Doughboy" • Pandem Rocket Bunny 280ZX • Nissan Frontier Tarmac concept • VW Golf mk2 with a VR6 aka. "Thunderbunny"

HI Drew, just so youre aware, the cars out front of the show are "car show" cars. They have no real criteria in terms of if they run or even drive. The cars out front are generally picked through SEMA based competitions (usually locally) as a way for "average joes" to get in to the show. I do agree that there is a serious lack of QC in this department and I hope it changes. (but hey its easy content for you right? 🤣)

I think the issue really comes down to how relevant the motor is to the overall build. That truck might not be finished but it has tons if work to display outside of the engine bay. That Miata on the other hand is entirely based around a fake/incomplete swap. Ultimately tho, SEMA really does need to put more effort into quality control

I worked for a wheel and stereo shop in Vegas in 2005. We had a small booth at SEMA and I was there early for set up and noticed a large portion of the cars indoors on display didn’t run. The cars at most of the big booths ran and drove In under their own power. This

The same thing happened last year or two with the AMG V12 swapped RX-7. The car was just shown with a V12 in the engine bay and nothing more. It didn't run or anything. And there was no update made on the project if it ran or not.
