Lestat and Louis - Bitter Sweet Symphony (Interview With The Vampire AMC)

I was not expecting much from this series but I was blown away and the actors nailed it 1000%. Louis goes through profound character change and development during season one while Lestat continues to be himself.

The finale was perfect! And how creepy is Armand? He is horrible in the books, and very manipulative and sadistic. Terribly complex. It is obvious here he has Louis as captive. Louis loves reading, but only Armand can reach the books. Louis is in HIS apartment, probably. As a book reader, let me impart some things to you all. I love this series, I do, but I also love the books (I have yet to read all of Memnoch though). The big thing here is they are vampires, not humans, so throw out human thinking/logic. Louis and Lestat are end-game, and they need one another. Louis always struggles with his humanity, with his melancholy, and Lestat is always a brat. Over the years they change drastically (for the better), and in many ways Louis is just as bad to Lestat. They are two-sides to the same coin, and will always return to eachother. Yes this is uncomfortable, yes this is toxic...that is okay, some things in art/media are meant to be that way. How horribly human is that? Louis continued to ignore and neglect Lestat (in the show) over, and over again, not to mention belittle him. What he did to Louis was childs play compared to what is in the books. If they were humans, yea that would be abuse, but no he wasn't trying to kill Louis - he could have easily done that without thinking, Lestat was trying to hold back and stop fighting, tbh. Claudia is easily the most 'evil' of all the vampires (well, maybe not more than Armand), and I don't use that word loosely since she is the most manipulative. Even through the show encompasses more of the Lestat we see in (all of) the books after IWTV, this is still through Louis and Claudia POV. Neither vampire in that family is purely good or bad, this is Anne Rice, so obv they are all grey characters and very complex. The rules the family sets down, funnily enough Lestat is very honest and does is best with Claudia (for Louis, always) but Claudia refuses to even beleive him, or meet him half way. She's going to have a tough time in the vamp world if she things that fight was that bad. Either way, love the show, it captures the essence of things beautifully.

I agree. Armand’s comments are creepy too. For example, I protect him from himself.. I care more for him then he does himself. And he knows Claudia’s diaries by heart. It makes me wonder did he use that info to manipulate Louis too ? I can’t wait to see if Lestat finds Louis and fights Armand over him lol

Totally agreed with you. Regarding the role of Armand, although I did not see Rachid as Armand, I knew there was something wrong in this Louis. Because Louis would never live in this type of house/ apartment surrounded by servants, he is more « discret ». Now I don’t know if he is under the spell of Armand or manipulated by him. I guess the writers introduce Armand here because obviously they want to keep Louis as the main character ( and also the incredible chemistry between Jacob and Sam) , so all the stories will be re-shaped with the presence of Louis in there? Anyway , can’t wait to see Lestat back and fight for Louis. I hope the series has enough success so we have enough seasons to go through all of this. If not, I hope the writers can make a good conclusion for them.

Another thing I noticed....the song that was playing when Louis and Lestat were dancing at the ball...that was the song Lestat composed for Louis "Come to Me", but just arranged differently. Did you all catch that?

That would be nice. It makes sense for them to get back together just from a show perspective…Sam and Jacob’s chemistry is out of this world and the heart and soul of the show. To prolong the relationship, it makes sense for them to be apart for some time but eventually come back together at some point.

First of all thank you for this beautiful edit of my favorite couple. Louis and Lestat are soulmates always have been and always will be. Screw Armand ! He most definitely is not this love of Louis's life. I think I threw up in my mouth writing it. Louis looks like he is being held captive and wishes for death without Lestat. I didn't read the books , but I saw the movie. I never shipped Louis and Lestat in the movie, but the tv series I am ride or die Loustat. Lestat , I beg of you save your husband .
