I’m a hooper here to learn a new flow skill. I was so excited when you said thread the needle because that’s a hoop move as well. All the poi tricks that I can already do is by accident from just knowing their hoop counterparts lol. So we’ll see how this one goes!

Of course! This is actually probably good practice for me since I rarely go back and revisit many of these beginner tricks and there's absolutely something to be said for being able to pull these techniques out at the drop of a hat.

Thanks for al the content, it's really gotten me excited to try Poi more. At 4:30 you show a bit about how you switch the angle so the poi don't hit eachother. I'm having a hard time figuring this out when I'm just turning my wrists, do you have any tips to get better at that?

I just started out thanks to your videos... but man I will have a hard time because my left hand is so rhythmicly underdeveloped it always loses track in the third spin. This little trick is gonna take me weeks to months to do properly. It kinda explains why I was never able to juggle for more than 4 steps. The only series I ever binge-watched were Stranger Things, The Mandalorian, and of course my beloved Love Death & Robots.

So question can you learn all poi tricks on spin flags ? I’m definitely tempted to try learning this on my spin flags.

Most poi tricks are compatible with flags--I believe everything I teach in this series is. Things like throws and contact poi are not but all flowers and weaves definitely are compatible.

Hey drex. Thank you for doing these videos. Hope you are keeping safe. I'm struggling with my poi tangling at the bottom of thread the needle. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
@DrexFactor4 жыл бұрын
So far so good! So your problem here is actually the exact same one that I pointed out with the poi running into each other at the top: the planes have to be slightly off angle from each other. Whichever hand is on top, try and see if you can angle out the bottom of its plane farther away from you and that should help. Good luck!
@TheRawrdt4 жыл бұрын
@@DrexFactorI'm having the same problem here. I tried the off angle technique like you said but for some reason, the poi isn't moving to the angle I want. Is there way to have better control to do the off angle technique?
@JariDawnchild2 жыл бұрын
@@TheRawrdt I'm having the same issue. I just started this tutorial today and can get about 4 "flaps of butterfly wings" (how do you word that?) before they tangle or I hit myself, and *if* I'm lucky I can get about one plane shift for thread the needle before the same thing happens, but I'm probably just impatient lol.

If we're doing binge reading, Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. First few are just sort of standard fantasy parodies, and then he turns into a genius. Sadly, early-onset Alzheimer's took him away from us, and I think impacted the last few books. But dang, a very, very,very,very,very,very funny writer.
