There are a couple comments on here about how some are disappointed with Zach's result, but CLEARLY Zach is thrilled with it. In later videos (full disclosure: big Try Guys fan), his hair looks great and he is more confident than ever, so I'd call that an incredible success. @@IrateWizrd in private behind closed doors we don't know how he actually feels about it. I think part of his excitement is from the reaction of his hair stylist, surgeons, and overall being on camera. If he's happy with his results then he won't get another one. It really depends on how long finesteride continues to deliver him results. It thickened up his already existing (native) hairs which is why his hair looks more robust now. At this point, a transplant is needed for further improvement. Avoid the robot. There's only 1 or 2 doctors in the US that are fantastic with it. Otherwise stick to manual extraction. Nobody has an infinite amount of donor grafts. And Zack is likely to lose a lot more hair in the future seeing his pattern before the operation. He needs to conserve his donor supply.

It reminds me of digital movie theater houses. They actually advertise it like it's better. Notice they never actually say HOW it's better. They just say "Digital!", with the exclamation point. There's no benefit at all to the audience to watching the movie in digital. In fact its a loss, if anything. That digital picture is put together with pixels, the smaller and denser the better. Film doesn't use pixels, its like a painting. Or you can think of it as infinitely denser pixels. Digital will never catch up with film when it comes picture quality. The reason theaters like using it is the same reason we all have given up on film for our family pictures and movies: cost and convenience. Not because it looks better.

The potential psychological benefit of having the haircut the day before is to begin the process of adapting to the post-op look a day early. The alternative puts the entire drastic change on the day of surgery - which psychologically might put more mental impact on the surgery itself…. This approach sort of “eases” the patient into the post-operative look more gently. Just so,etching to think about as plastic surgery is at least 50% psychological impact.

The distraction from pain using the vibration is basically The Gate Theory we use in massage... Pleasure and good sensations hit the brain faster than pain. You can distract from pain by using a sensation that is not pain (and when it pain, any sensation can feel nicer than it). The vibration can also over stimulate the nerves to disrupt them, but this can backfire in some places if the nerves become too stimulated as it can cause itching and discomfort (though probably not when being numbed since...soon you won't feel anything).

If you as a woman have androgenic alopecia, meaning you're losing hair due to your follicles' weakness to DHT, then finasteride is a good option. The academia portion is great, but the practical application of your training blows my mind. How you know and can recognize nerves under the skin, tendons, muscle; how you can discern what to remove, where to remove or even where to add.... is brilliant! Also, the reconstruction surgeries for those who have suffered injuries is so wonderful! Thank you, Doctor! Id bet its comforting to patients that you as a surgeon doing hair transplants, are not a candidate yourself. When you're advising patients against a hair transplant, they know that you know what they're feeling.

I'm not sure what advantage the Artas robot provides for the patient. It's more convenient for those doing the extracting. Current hand-held extraction devices allows the practitioner to randomize the extraction better vs taking hair out in grids. Also, as the good doctor mentioned, the robot makes a bigger 'hole' than the hand-held devices do so there tends to be more scarring as a rule. How does the robot help the patient versus the practice itself? I think I heard 'artificial intelligence' about 4 times. Trendy but I think it's an artificial benefit.

I saw a doco about the Da Vinci robot (among other medical devices and about how the FDA approves medical devices) its very interesting and talked about how the skill of the surgeon is still very important when using a surgical robot. The doc is called The Bleeding Edge if anyone is interested.

Adding new pores for the hairs reminds me of something. One time, during a very hot day, I was sweating heavily and my hair was sticking to my forehead and neck and anywhere else, and I think the heat had expanded my pores and a loose hair had just happened to enter one. So, I'd started swiping the wet hair off, and one of them Snapped. That hair has been growing back ever since, no matter how many times I try to pull it out by the root. ...Like, if I were to let it grow out, I would have a three foot long hair somewhere where hair isn't supposed to be growing. (Just a crazy story I thought would be amusing for people. Probably a once-in-a-thousand thing.)

I've always been attracted to bald men. I married one 34 years ago. I find it interesting that young men shaving their heads bald is a fashion statement but a naturally balding man is some kind of disability. Intellect & confidence is sexy, IMHO. And an intellectual, confident, bald man is even sexier. To me, it's the 'personality' under the hair that's attractive, not the hair itself...

You probably answered this in a different video, but is it possible to do eyebrow hair transplant? My mom has beautiful thick hair on her head, even for being in her 50’s it is still very thick (Thick as in number of strands, not necessarily how thick each strand is. I think her strand thickness is pretty average) but she is very self conscious about her eyebrows and how they don’t have much hair. They haven’t lost hair over time, it just seems like she just doesn’t have much hair there. She also said she had an eyebrow lady over-pluck them and then the hair never grew back. Is this possible? And is it possible to do a transplant to take hair from her head or other areas of the body and put them on the eyebrows? She doesn’t need like crazy caterpillar brows but she just wants them to be more even and fuller on the mids and ends. Also unrelated, but can you do a video talking about doing surgery on people who have connective tissue disorders such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome/people with stretchy skin and if it’s possible to have plastic surgery/filler injections when you have connective tissues diseases. I have never really heard it talked about and I have always wondered because I have EDS

I JUST got an eyebrow hair transplant on Monday by Dr Dauer in LA! I had permanent hair loss from trichotillomania. They removed follicles one by one from the back and sides of my head. They then transplanted 250 hairs to each eyebrow. It’s only been 4 days but I’m so happy! You have to find a really good surgeon for this because it’s a very technical procedure. I only considered Dr Epstein in Miami or Dr Dauer in LA.

Leg and other body hair can be used but its not optimal as its not the same as hair from the usual donor zones,in theory it could be used to soften the appearance of the hairline but its not that common

Just chucking my two pence in on whether to have surgery early or later I’d say if you’re considering having surgery you should already be using a form of prevention like a topical finasteride (to reduce risk of side effects) what people don’t usually realise is a Caucasian male can grow around 80 grafts per cm2 and a transplant can usually get you around 50 due to the size of incisions created. So always protect what you have guys prevention will always be better than cure 👍🏼

Dr. Linkov himself is a great example of a super handsome dude whos bald. Don't worry about losing hair and if you're someone who really really loves you hair don't freak out, look at your options and go ahead and do what you feel is best. Don't freak yourself out too much :)

I landed on this channel after watching your Joe Rogan video. And youtube keeps reminding me of hair transplant videos. I have something which has been heavy on my chest for so many years. I lost my hair when I was 16. I had super curly and thick hairs when I was a kid. I don't know what suddenly happened but when I noticed I had lost much of my hairs and it was not common Male pattern baldness but my density of hairs reduced significantly and also had thin hairs. I tried all kinds of treatment which were available then but none worked. Hair transplant was no because I was so young and that time and it felt so horrid at that time. I was fortunate that I was not picked enough on this aspect by my classmates but sometimes a teacher or so would point out that how come you lost your hairs at such early age and all I could do was just scream inside my head while displaying a stupid grin across my face. Relatives sometimes made fun of me too. I would never talk to any girl in my school ever. I subconsciously thought that they would make fun of me which I thought they did. I can't really blame anyone. I Only had a close group of friends and I felt home with them. They would still call me baldie but atleast it was not something that was entire focus of the convo everytime. But deep down I remember still looking at the mirror everyday just cursing this life and what I ever did wrong to ever deserve this fate. Even my dad lost his hair but we'll in his 40s or late 30s. It kills you slowly day by day but I got good at masking it and deep down I convinced myself that it's okay, I will live a single life and forever be this way. I don't need anyone. Worked well for many years. I never interacted with any girl. I wouldn't even make eye contact with them. This is how I programmed to adjust myself to this life. I would still look at the mirror everyday and feel super sad from time to time. I thought I would try transplant after sometime. Even that was denied by the doctor because I had very less hair density. Meanwhile my body is raging with testosterone and having sex is all I could ever think of but again I would see my head and would sink deep in that pit again. I feel like I have lived a life where at no point of time I believed in myself. I absolutely have no confidence. I just try to stay invisible. Friends started having relationships and stuff and I would Just listen to them hopelessly. My body craves for a physical touch every day now but my mind kills every desire whenever I pass someplace where I see my reflection. I am 27 now and the worst is I can't even grow a proper moustache or beard except a Mexican one. I was good in academics so what's good is that I atleast found a stable job now which has a decent pay for a single man like me. Whats bothering me is that my parents are now deciding to fix my marriage but they don't really understand what my mind is going through. How stupid and inferior I have felt for most of my life. I opened up to my mother a bit and she became super sad too and said you shouldn't think about this stuff. I am terrified of meeting a girl let alone have a relationship and marry. In India people are super judgemental about looks especially hair is important. And I feel so stupid that in my entire family, I am the only one to have lost hairs. I don't know why or how this happened to me?? What did I ever do to deserve this fate?? What also worries me is how will I ever talk to a girl when I have zero confidence in me. I have given up on the idea of having sex a very long time ago. I should drag it for as long as I can. Thank you to anyone who took the time to read this. Btw I am glad I came across this channel. It feels good to vent my lifelong frustration out here. Maybe will give me a good night's sleep....Good night, tkae care...👐👐👐

Dr. Gary, Where have they gotten with using body hair for transplanting on the head? I seen a video a few years ago where there was a doctor who actually successfully used a guys chest hair and transplanted on to his head and it came out good. I figure, since this robot method is available now, can't this robot also then take the hairs from the chest, on men, and then a man would be able to use that chest hair plugged into his head?
