Dribbling - Low Level Rocket League Mechanics

Low level rocket league mechanics wouldn't be complete without some dribbling. Entry level dribbling begins with taking control of the ball, an active decision on the field. This tutorial will cover how to get better at recognizing the right and wrong times to take control and dribble forward rather than taking off downfield. Hopefully this video will server as a starting point for low level rocket league players everywhere.

Why did you stop making videos? I’ve watched every content creator out there for years and stumbled across these. They are phenomenal and extremely informative. The issue with a lot of you tubers is that they know the game phenomenally well but just don’t have the teaching acumen and thorough explanation style that you have. For example this is the best dribbling tutorial I’ve ever seen. It blows every other one out of the water. If you are still playing it would be great to see some more 1v1 content especially relating to strategy, tips, common situations and mistakes, do’s/don’ts, etc. In any case - thank you for the clear, thorough, and very articulate content that you have posted. It’s an absolute shame it doesn’t have more views and you don’t have more subs.

Thank you for the kind words, if I could go back in time I never would have stopped. I had some relationship things that I needed to focus on for the sake of my household and the interruption caused me to take a break from gaming entirely. I truly love rocket league more than any other game in my 20 years of playing video games. I’m afraid my life as a 36-year-old is a bit too busy to commit to enough gameplay that will make me as valuable as I once was in the instructional community. It’s always very nice to hear that my videos have withstood the test of time and they are still helping people. Cheers.

Great video. Players in high silver to plat 3, if you're focusing on air control and dribbles, I fully recommend you switch to mastering basic ground play. That will rank you up much faster and will prove better until you're mid to higher diamond. As a C2 player, I'm fairly comfortable in both styles, but most games I play with lower ranked players, ground play will outshine them and give you better jukes, positioning, team play, and recovery. It's an underrated skill, and just because it's not flashy doesn't mean it's not useful. Good luck out there.

And we do, I assure you. Just a real mind melt as yesterday I was having all these wonderfully creative thoughts on how to do these exact motions and movements, as well as the others in the playlist.... Of course, now I see those creative thoughts, were just ALL the hours finally being used wisely, and things starting to click... However, after watching your video series on these essential lower level mechanics it became so much more concrete and bordering more on second nature or actual muscle memory. A lot of that is my own doubts in myself and intellect, and hearing a higher up say it has a stronger more authoritative effect I'm sure, but the most important bits are the little reminders of when/how NOT to do them in-game. You are an absolute priceless resource for us bottom rung players and I speak not only for myself, but the newcomers and next gen of players as well, when I say, thank you for your input, knowledge, tips, experience and, more importantly, all the effort that went into sharing it with us all as a community. If you ever want custom music for any of your videos please never hesitate to reach out. I'd say at least the first few are most definitely on the house for what you've done for me and I'm sure, so many others. Haha!! Thanks again brother, and I hopefully will get a chance to see you on the pitch one day. Cheers:)

This is perfect and a must watch for anybody just getting serious with rocket league. You are right, I've been playing for 3 years (champ 2) and I have watched a ton of tutorial videos and this not only sums up everything but shows to trap first, something most people dont even think to do because they are too concerned with getting the hit or are already thinking how they are going to get boost lol. But even at higher levels, control and simple fakes/flicks and consistency are key in breaking down a defense. I go into free play for 10-20 minutes before I even think about going into games and even then I go casual to warm up in a game setting before ranked. Excellent video and breakdown.

Watched this video like a month or 2 ago. Still not the best at it but, I can dribble now! After I learned how to dribble, flick and all that, it motivated me to get better at the game. Watched this when I was about bronze 3ish. I am now silver-gold in about everything. I’m really focused on mastering dribbling now as flicks are insane in the gold level. All I’m saying is thanks.

Hey, a GC here. I saw this video and just wanted to add something: Amazing work explaining it to newer players. Since free to play multiple mates of mine have joined rocket league and are around silver 3 already! Their skills are not the best hahaha, but your videos explain in my eyes what they need to do to improve. I and many other high ranked players just say to newer players who want to improve "Just play more". But that's not all to it. Training basic ball control is playing more, but also what you need to focus on. The little things like turning away from the ball when you catch is something we don't even think about, as it can pretty consistently be done perfectly and faster without. A shame you don't play the game anymore (Checked the rl stats :P)

Hey great video. RL needs more of this type of content - rocket league is way more about this type of stuff than about ceiling shots / flip resets / freestyling /etc :P

This vid showed up in my notification box. Im not subsribed to you, I've never seen a video of you before, and I haven't played rocket league in a week and a half. Is KZbin trying to tell me I suck at dribbling or something? Probably. After I get over the fact that KZbin thinks poorly of me, i would like to tell you this vid is well done. Realized you were only a plat player after looking at your other vids. But you had me fooled this video. like the way you practice trapping, never thought of practicing it like that or practicing it at all really. This will probably help me greatly so thanks.

I’m a Plat 3-Diamond 1 player in 2s & 3s but gold 2 in Solos. Never watched a video or did any training and simply watching this video taught me that I should’ve been training from the start. Thank you for making this video easy to learn and understand man. I’m probably gonna need to watch it a few more times before I get to where I need to be. Your channel should be called, “Rocket League for Dummies.” 😂😂

Never watch the full video of step by step guide at one go. the beauty of later steps just kills your determination to start off by scratch. Adding this video to watch later to come back later after i get a hang on to catching the ball. hope its a good video
