On this journey, I return to Ringing Rocks Park to check out the current situation with High Falls...another remarkable feature of Ringing Rocks Park. Bucks County, PA is currently under a "drought watch" along with 35 other Pennsylvania counties.

Haven't been there in about 15 years, thanks for the blast from the past. I chuckled when I heard the kids tapping on the rocks. I never went up that far only to the falls. My son (5yrs) ayy the time, fell, banged his knee on a rock and was pissed that someone put all those rocks there. Boulder field at hickory run.

Ah, that's right...that is the name of the other boulder field. It was escaping me. I'd be pissed too, lol!

They say that when the woods gets quiet, sasquatch is nearby. The bedrock looks like a giant sluce, imagine all the stuff that has built up in the crevices. Maybe gold?

Was thinking it would be cool to take a metal detector into the creek bed.

We got some rain. My 2 rain barrels are full again. But rain was forecasted for a few days, but that changed to no rain now.

Love this explore of the dry creek bed. So interesting! I would think there could be lost treasures at the bottom of the falls...thank you!

The Plethodontid salamanders are especially adapted to these drought conditions. They burrow down and secrete their slime layer, where they will last for months. Imagine pods of boiled okra buried in the mud, mmmm...delicious!

Thanks Mike! Forecast was calling for rain, but we got a little yesterday. I don't think it was enough to revitalize this creek though.

That looks like an Australian creek bed. The creek near me is dry for most of the year and there's some interesting geology in its banks. The local wildlife has probably left in search of water elsewhere. I'm in no doubt that Mother Nature is trying to tell us something.

My two rain barrels are full again :-) It did rain, but not for long. Hoping for some more, the ground/garden soaked up me watering them earlier. Still drying out too quick.

Where does the water originate? A lake? Would be interesting to follow it all the way! Great explore! Such beautiful nature 🌳

I looked at Google Earth and followed up stream for a bit, and can only speculate that the water originates from underground as I see the start, but starts out of "nothing". Lake Nockomixon is not that far from the disconnect, wonder if that is feeding streams underground.

I haven't, but we've had a couple good rain days since Hurricane Ian here in SE PA. Wondering if that helped.

Is there a dam that is maybe diverting the water elsewhere or preventing it to flow there. If its from a drought or lack of rain then it is really bad there. Definitely hope they get rain soon. Nice scenery.

Not that I can see on Google Earth. Trying to see if this creek is underground water fed. Still looking though.
