The USR is the highest mobility sniper rifle in Call of Duty Ghosts. However, it does have other secrets such as a low idle sway and a recoil compensator that reduces recoil for each consecutive kill. This episode of In Depth reviews the USR and gives you the best class setup for it.

The point of the Chrome Lined OHK areas is that wherever your bullet hits a crouching person from the front will be a kill shot.

When someone crouches down, the model always puts their right knee on the ground, so you can only hit their right thigh, and their left thigh is hidden behind their left leg. The left forearm is the one stretched out holding the gun, and the right bicep is more likely to be hit than the right forearm due to the forearm being curled around the gun.

Rawmon94 you start with only a pistol and no perks and all the weapons and perks are scattered around the level to pick up, just like a old school FPS game hence the name.

It's called lazy programming... IW is lazy and didn't bother to fix their mistake. It's clear they meant it to be the upper arms and upper legs, someone just messed up though.

I heard from a few friends that played the beta that even in beta form it played better than any fully polished CoD ever made. obviously thats like comparing apples and oranges because theyre two completely different style of games, but in a FPS aspect they said cod wont come close to matching up.

Poetic Play theF0R3N Its designed to let you one-hit anyone who's crouching. When you actually look at a person's model when they're crouching, the areas that are now one-hit kills match up exactly with those parts that are exposed when crouching.

any sniper in Hcore wouldn't get hitmarkers so you might as well use the VKS in hardcore as you can have an extra attachment slot for AP rounds or extended as well as an optical and built-in suilencer

obrianj The VKS has to much idle sway for me, and it has a TON of recoil. I tried it, the Lynx and the L115A. I like the L115A but not as much as this one. And I'm an aggressive sniper. I'm not a camper. So i like being light on my feet.

by far my favorite weapon. chrome + thermal, double lethal (ied), incog, dead silence, focus and gamble/ru. i have never once cared about equipping a secondary as i can move well around the map collecting gear from the floor.

Quickscoping USR Class Setup: Primary: USR - Chrome Lined/None & Extended Mags Secondary: None Lethal: None Tactical: None Perks: Ready Up - Sleight of Hand - Quickdraw - Agility - Focus - Resilience Streaks: Whatever fits you best, everything goes You can trade Resilience for a pistol if you want, but this class is more focused on ONLY getting sniper kills. Chrome Lined can also be removed if you don't like it, maybe put a Silencer on? But if you force yourself to only use snipers (no secondary), then you'll get a lot better at sniping.

in case of confusion, let me add that ap rounds and fmj only help with ballistic vests and wallbangs. your bullets suffer no damage drop through walls and according to drift0r add damage to vests. hope this helps.

if you use a thermal on snipers you can move and quickscope with the bullet going straight as opposed to reg scope which you must stand still for it to go straight

On one of the patches a little while ago made it only the upper chest, neck and head to be a one shot kill for all of the sniper rifles when silenced. So now all of them do have a penalty. This means that the VKS is the best silenced sniper for a one shot kill area just like the USR without chrome lined or a silencer. Although there is one draw back on the VKS, at 50m the hit box changes to only a one shot kill in the upper chest, neck and head, but that's really far so you really won't need to worry about it that much.

Hey drift0r I have a pretty awesome class build for you: Perks: Overkill ICU Reflex Extra tactical Weapons: Chain SAW with Ap rounds Grenade launcher Riotshield With radar Gear: Trophy system Kill streak: Support ballistic vest MAAWS and oracle Originally it was going to be a really team player build but I found that when people first see your riot shield they want to run around you so as they begin to run you switch to the saw and blast away, I found you can you use it as a sort of run and gun or camper type of class (thanks to the saw being such an easy to use gun). The grenade launcher is great for clearing campers.

Got my ghillie suit yesterday, I used the USR and the lynx.. I hate snipers now, but understand that it isn't just unskilled no scoping/black scoping like in MW3.. The ghillie suit is super useful, it auto blends for each map, so on whiteout, you are pretty much invisible with incog. I found QuickDraw and focus useless, maybe you could run some tests to see the effects? Love the videos :)

Love this sniper. Thermal is a MUST in SnR and SnD. You can move like a beast and all the shit about quickscoping being gone is a lie. I've gotten two quadfeed killcams with this thing and that obviously requires quickscoping to do. (or a monster collat I suppose) I'm not even a sniper by default that is how 'not gone' quickscoping is.

Drift0r can you do an in depth about chrome barrel again because it increases rechamber time for the bolt action snipers. It's not a enough to notice immediately but for those that snipe often like me will notice it quite quickly.

Hey Drift0r, you made a valid argument on how the MSBS was op'd and IW nerfed the gun. I'd like to see a video on how ridiculously the snipers are op'd. Maybe mention the lie IW gave the majority of the community by saying there'd be no quickscoping in Ghosts.

If it kills lower chest and up with silencer, wouldn't it make it a better silenced sniper than the VKS which is supposed to be the best silenced sniper? Just wondering if this could be cleared up.

Drift0r the silenced kill chart is incorrect, it's not a 1-shot kill in the stomach region when silenced, only chest and up

Drift0r you cannot effectively Quick Scope with Stalker on your class. Quickdraw and Ready up are the only 2 definite perks you need and amplify helps when you are posted up. The rest of the perks i use are all my personal preference like scavenger and ping sometimes. Before i get hate on i only Quick Scope when the situation demands it and even then, connection depending, it only works about 70% of the time.

Stalker actually helps a lot. It's really passive though, so you wont notice. But it can actually be very helpful.

You are suppose to stand still when QS so stalker does not have any benefit apart from helping you move while ADS which throws your sight off a lot at long ranges. I have tried both setups and only got a KEM so far without stalker. It's a matter of preference for some but i do know what im talking about. MW3 people used steady aim over stalker for a reason...

I hope they don't patch this like they did with the dsr and validate in black ops 2. I also mostly use the zoom scope on it. I like the crosshairs and I'm not a fan of the thermal scope. Also drift0r can you do an episode about bullet speed in cod ghosts. Especially the Mtar x. It seems to have quite a slow bullet speed. Are infinity ward slowly making the game more like battlefield? (Bigger maps, different recoils patterns, sliding?)

I think you should have talked to Kross about the classes/recommended playstyles for this weapon, since he's probably the best sniper you know, and since this is an In Depth on the snipers, and since most snipers who play CoD mostly quickscope (including myself) I think it would have been better to talk to him, since I honestly feel like people like me couldn't really use the last half of the video for anything, sine for example the class you recommended mostly is for "aggressive scout sniping". People who make montages/goes for sniper clips for fun can't really use that class because of the perks, equipment etc. Personally I would take off the secondary and Stalker, since you don't really need that for quickscoping sice you stand still and put on something like Focus or Agility instead, or maybe both. For scout snipers, the class I would recommend would be USR (of course) with a Silencer and a Thermal Scope, secondary is a Honey Badger (choose your attachment :P) by using Overkill. Also, you should have Takedown (or whatever it's called, the 1 point perk that makes it so the skulls won't show up), I would also put on Reflex, just in case somebody finds you, and an IED, and put Agility on to better be able to move positions (or swap it with Extreme Conditioning/Marathon, dunno what it's called :/) Also, you can take off the IED and Extreme Conditioning/Marathon and put on Off The Grid. But that's just my opinion, IDK if you agree, dude :)

IDEA FOR IN DEPTH: I believe ready up only makes you fire faster after sprinting not ADS. SOURCE OF HYPOTHESIS: In MW2 when quickscoping, you could rush and press your ads button and during the time you are "scoping" you could not fire because of your sprint delay but it kinda' was possible just as you were fully ADS'd. IF IT'S TRUE: ready up is a wasted perk slot if you never intend to use your gun in hip fire mode.

Please compare the L115 with the USR. I think the L115 is more for hard scoping, but I'll defer to your expertise. Also, given that the suppressor doesn't affect the USR, it would be very interesting to see how the suppressed USR compares with the VKS.

The VKS is THE dominate silenced sniper without question. When you choose the VKS over the USR silenced, you gain the following advantages: -10 round magazine -Semi-automatic -Built-in silencer, so you've gained a third attachment without the extra attachment perk The only downside is the lower mobility, but that doesn't matter too much. Silenced snipers are meant to be used in a stealthy playstyle, so mobility means very little if that's how you want to play. Use the USR for what it's meant for: sniper rushing!

L115 has more hitboxes that the USR, same ADS, I think slightly faster reload. but both are excellent for QS. L115 is my go to for QS matches in private lobbies

As I am using a mobile device, I cant comment to other comments, so I'll just publish it as a seperate comment: YES, Chrome Lined does increase damage in those regions so you are VERY VERY likely to kill crouchwalkers. When you are crouch, the two limbs (part of legs) that will point straight at you are the upper right leg and lower left leg because the model has his right knee in the ground. And YES, it actually decreases accuracy, not by increase sway itself, but increase the speed of the sway, so that holding your breath become more important. And NO, NO, NO, the FMJ in previous CoD games did never increase the snipers raw damage output, neither changing multipliers. The only thing it does is ignoring Ballistic Vests and remove some of the coding of the walls that say that walls decrease damage, so the bullets will get a lessened decrease in damage on the other side of the wall. The Chrome Lined is the first attachment in CoD history that actually increases the raw damage of the bullets (apart from Stopping Power and Deadeye, but those are perks).
