If you use a shield correctly you will be almost unbeatable... I'm talking about using the shields unique abilities as part of a team. I remember back in the day playing MW2 (When shields were at their best due to the good hit detection, none of the bullshit "getting shot through your shield lagg" that you get in todays CoD's), me and my friends used to use the shield playing search and went on 300+ winstreak.. I can't remember the exact number but we were never able to beat that streak with traditional tryhard classes. (UMP ect..)

from my recently played games this afternoon I think they may have updated the mechanic for the shield. I haven't done much testing since I usually play alone in any mode so with that in mind, I think the mechanics of the shield have shifted from deflecting all bullet damage against the shield, to allowing a scarce amount of damage for each bullet it deflects. I have sat and taken loads of damage with the shield, and in standard games I can actually watch as my screen slowly becomes red with each bullet I absorb. this could be a lag issue, but it happens too often for me to dismiss it as simply bad connection. Also, I have been watching videos on the shield all day, and one thing that you should know, is if you drop your shield and pick it back up it will repair the glass so you can see again. I haven't tested this as of yet but it seems to be something overlooked by just about every video I have watched about the shield.

2 more things to add this video. If you hold RB to throw your lethal (C4, Throwing Knife etc) it will show the animation of the shield on your back but in reality it is still in front of you. That's a great way to see thru the cracked shield. Another thing is if you put on the extra attachment perk it will not work on your shield. So you can't use titanium frame and motion sensor at the same time. I got my shield gold within the first 2 weeks of ghost. Put it on your first class slot so it shows it when they look at your character and let them know you can danger close if they are gonna do it to you. It's annoying to be danger closed so now you can do it right back.

I liked how you could basically repair your riot shield and get a brand new shiny shield as many times as you wanted to. When your shield gets shot at starts getting cracked and impossible to see through, all you had to do was find a gun on the ground and hold square to swap it for your shield, then pick the shield back up, it is a fresh, brand new, uncracked shield. That always used to trip me out, lol. My shield would have cracks all over it and couldn't see a damn thing through it, and all I had to do was swap it out for a gun off of the ground, then by magic the ground somehow repaired my shield back to perfect.

I love the riot shield as it's fun to use yes it can be frustrating but it is also a very good anti camper tool with c4 especially on war hawk when.everyone camps in that blasted room.. I use c4 because I love using it.. (I mainly use to clear out rooms with campers and I don't use danger close) and that nooby c4 danger close class is cheap but it is also good for taking out multiple campers. An almost cheap way to get around the miserably low TTK on the shield, I've taken to holing up in chokepoints, and using Reflex, a fast-swaping pistol (M9 for me), and the tac knife. You can have your shield down and back up in no time flat, and it's particularly useful when you're caught in a 1v1. The fact you don't get yanked into the melee like your normally do, or held still for the animation really allows you to nail people around tight corners, or quickly retaliate when they fail to knife you.

I survived an I.M.S. attack twice. I was offline just testing a loadout and the AI set a I.M.S. right at the corner of building, when I turned and saw and of course I just kept running to the door. There was the beeping and a explosion but no damage. Like your videos.

hey Drift0r I was playing cod ghosts today in ground war domination and I got a Helo Pilot and killed a lot of players with it, then I played ground war again except this time in team deathmatch and earn t a helo pilot, I wasn't timing it but I am almost certain I didn't get as much time in the helo pilot. Driftor do some streaks change in ways on cod ghosts like a helo pilots time limit for different gamemodes to make them more fair?

Drift0r, great video! But you also forgot to add what happens when you knife the riot shield. I'm my experience, the shield reflects the damage from the knife back at both of you, and you both die. But I think this only works when the shield is on your back

I use the cmb smg thing and use over kill with the riot shield and sleight of hand mixed with scavenger and the class is just a beast with the grip and rapid fire!!!

All I do is use the shield and play SnR. I have 5 different shield classes, each for a specific use (none are shield+C4+danger close combo), and I normally tear people apart when using them. My best game I went 21-1, and that was in SnD. It doesn't take skill to use the shield (i.e. Shield+C4+danger close), but it does take a lot of skill to be good/great with the shield...

Funny that you said that the riot shield is just for fun, my riot shield class(riot shield+dual pistols) is my go-to class for domination, specially if I'm dealing with a bunch of campers, and I rarely go negative with my shield class. A tip for using riot shield is to use the aim trigger to walk or block bullets, that'll make your shield stay in front of you and not go to your side in case you accidentally sprint. And forget hardline, 2 points that you would make better use in another perk(s), you shouldn't be caring about killstreak, so switch it for two lethals, lightweight, scavenger, marathon, dead silence or any other perk that actually helps you on the battlefield.

Ordinarily I'd be upset that you basically disrespected the shield by telling everybody that you can't get high scores or killstreaks with it (so far from the truth), but in the current state of affairs I think the more people you dissuade from using the shield the better. Hopefully once all these douche C4/DC spammers receive their nerf the shield can go back to being a niche weapon that nobody uses or takes seriously. That way I can continue to do my thing with the shield without having to worry about every man and his dog having an anti-shield class prepared. ***** I agree with your first point 100%. Those people throwing C4 from behind a shield don't deserve respect because it doesn't take skill. Anybody can throw a C4 with Danger Close and kill people. However, your last point is dead wrong. If the makers of Ghosts wanted the game to be entirely gun vs gun then they wouldn't have included the riot shield. Maybe the game would be better for you if it wasn't included, but I don't see why people like me who don't use C4 with the riot shield should be punished. Seems like the Radar Jammer attachment could be used for a Stealthy Team Sneak Attack since it hides your own dots. I wonder if it works while all those detection streaks are up?

If you ask me, i think COD Ghosts is one of the best cods ive played, now that i think back to it. Yes, yes, i know this game had A LOT of bad/rage moments, for example: Across the map knifing, insane ttk and ect. But there was just something about this game that the other cods didnt have... Killing someone was just so much more satisfying than in BO II for example

Blast Shield is virtually useless with the shield, you can still be 1 shotted if they hit your feet, even with it. Plus you can block most grenades and c4 with shield anyways. Dont bother with blast shield, take Marathon, ive gone 20 games in a row positive doing so. just be smart, always use a pistol sidearm. I use marathon, double lethals with 2 throwing knives, radar, reflex, strong arm, marathon. Funny he says you wont be competitive, you can go 2.0 every match if you know when to put the shield away running with pistol out.

Drift0r, for you saying their is no practical use of the riot shield is wrong. I'm sure you've never used akimbo pistols with reflex and steady aim. This combo in snr is extremely effective. I've used this to great success. Goin an average of 10 and 5 every game. I've been riot shielding since mw2 and have always used this class. I think you should use this class to change your opinion, especially if you have a team supporting you.

Actually, in the Black Ops games, the Riot Shield can deflect explosive damage, but a very small portion. If any, you'll deflect about 25% of the damage inflicted on you. In Black Ops 2, I had people shooting my shield with the Crossbow and even sticking my shield with a Semtex and they need to land two hits that way. Although when my Shield is over my back, direct sticks or bolts in front will kill in one hit regardless of Flak Jacket. The best way to counter a Riot Shield in either game is to try to outsmart the opponent with a cheeky C4 toss, and hit the C4 Klacker at the moment they walk over the charge.

I love how I see an enemy so I crouch, and stop moving so I can counter when they reload but get shot through my shield in a kill cam funny part is they walk straight at me shooting dead center of the shield and somehow get the kill. I also love how I can't use theater mode to send vids to Activision and ask why this is happening.

Well, when you shoot a bullet at an enemy riot and it deflects, the bullet now "belongs" to the enemy ( it can kill team members of the person who shot the bullet ). Maybe that's why it didn't deflect? Perhaps If the second riot shield was in the same team as the guy with the gun.

Against the AI in local play or private match, the AI would shoot somewhere near to the very bottom of the shield and kill any riot shield user quite quickly. I have no idea how this is but is seemed to render the riot shield useless even when the riot shield is directly pointed at the shooter. Could be that there is a tiny space that bullets can travel through, or maybe that the bullets are shot at the ground just underneath and are somehow ricocheted into the rioters feet?

It should be impenetrable if you aren't moving and looking downwards (and at the opponent of course). Even crouch walking will expose the toes, though.

Yeah, that will be it then. Although i have never come across anyone online who has succeeded in killing a rioter by shooting at the toes. Must just be an extremely small exposed hitbox of the toes that only AI can hit underneath the riot shield with ease.

My clan is a platinum clan, nearly diamond and we primarily play search and hardcore search but are forced to play otherwise because of the c4 noobs whom infest the game, if this doesn't get patched it will be the new game breaker. One counter I found was (off the grid), all shielders use radar and RELY on the radar constantly, become invisible and take away their advantage.

The C4 throwing mechanic was a little off on the riot shield from the beginning of this game, since you could throw it "around" your shield without lowering it. According to the newest patch notes from Infinity Ward, you would to lower the shield to throw C4. Not sure if this patch has taken effect yet or how much it will change things, since the swap animation was so fast that the user could already switch to pistol, shoot you and have the shield back up before you could shoot them.

Hey, Driftor, you can "renew" your riot shield glass swapping it with a dropped gun and then picking up the shield again. It's not like its gonna save your life but, hey, if you're already with the shield, why not keep it classy?

I don't think Danger Close should be allowed in S&D and S&R games. The riot shield + c4 combo isn't the only problem. Danger close with the kastet is another huge trolly option. I love seeing the riot shield being used for capping objectives. That makes sense. Or even as an anti-camper tool, but games where your life matters so much (like search games) is where it becomes really annoying. They're never gonna nerf the whole riot + c4 option, but I think removing danger close from said gametypes is a good option.

I tried it, even went and got snow camo on it, but it seriously underperforms in anything but throwing-knifing and capping objectives. As for camper-hunting, the maverick ar w/ noob tube plus kastet with danger-close are much better alternatives. That super-annoying room on warhawk? kill them from the truck in the back! no need to worry about IED's, c4, dogs, betty-launcher killstreak, or campers running back from respawn behind you. Plus you can actually dominate with the maverick besides.

One of the challenges for a camo for the shield is 50 kills with c4 while using the shield, so the devs obviously know about it. They would fix it if they didnt like it.

It's pretty sad they didn't fix the "Riot Shield + C4" glitch yet, it totally ruins S&R and S&D. The Riot Shield should not even be usable in these modes...
