I think about this show all the time! This show was doing the isekai type thing way before we were just buried by them, it also did it in a creative way that also makes the fun stuff boost the plot. Making shows fun or whatever, less serious makes them easier to watch in large chunks or while doing something else but it also makes them all run together or feel the same. I've got so many shows in my head as amalgamations. Drifters would be huge right now! Great characters that are interesting with motivations or vengeance that aren't the driving force. This makes it dynamic for me , they have to set aside personal hate or egocentric desires to help their team succeed. Its the most basic descriptor but it works. There are compromises, even truces or friendships forged out of respect or fighting together. Also the mystery of the identities of these guys/gals. How their identity and the life they chose attribute to their skill and power

Oh, I understand you very well. I agree 100% that if drifters came out today, it would be a success. Isekai these days is no longer something unusual and every major deviation from the norm in them makes them interesting. However, it's usually exactly the same. Some simple comedy, the joke of which is to undress some female character, which at some point becomes distasteful and boring.

Yes! I read the manga and had a great time. When the anime came out.. I was a bit disappointed. I feel like if I hadn't read the manga, I would have liked the adaptation more.

If they shortened each episode to 5 min, the fights would be awesome, but unfortunately they extended it so much that they screwed it up completely. I don't read manga, so I don't know this one either and I didn’t like the adaptation anyway 😏
