The scene of Aemond claiming Vhagar is straight-up magical, I love the detail that he seems to be the only one to hear and acknowledge her calls at the funeral. Plus this video is giving me a much-needed break from lesson planning, so that's much appreciated. Great work as always!

HOTD does a great job of portraying Aemond, he always gives me those same vibes as school shooters in school safety videos. Then when considering how he’s treated as a kid it starts to make sense, especially with how he acts after getting an incredibly dangerous weapon. When i first watched this episode, my dog decided to acting up and while i was trying to deal with him i missed Lenor rowing away. I also waited untill the entire show was released to to binge it in a day. so spent the rest of the season really pissed at them for basically having him assassinated Lenor so they could marry. Later I saw other people talking about the changes from the book to the show and found out he survived. Neadless to say i was really shocked and had to rewatch it. I'm glad my boy lived and even if he soon dies to free up seasmoke i hope he got to live a little while on his own terms away from the BS court life.

My interpretation of the “I may have lost an eye, but I gained a dragon” line is that, even though he doesn’t truly believe “it was a fair exchange”, which is made very clear when, as soon as they’re away from the family, he demands Luke’s eye as payment, he said what he said in the heat of the moment because he was afraid for his mother and what might happen if she wasn’t reined in; essentially, my read is that Aemond moved to defend his mother, because in that moment, he learned beyond any doubt that his father would never defend him or her, so he chose to protect his true family. Aemond had no choice but to grow up too fast.

The funeral music is my favorite theme in the show thus far. You can hear it in all the funeral scenes (Aemma, Laena, baby Visenya). But what I absolutely love is that it’s also sampled in the sex scene with Rhaenyra & Criston, beautifully complementing the death of Rhaenyra’s innocence (to the extent loss of virginity can be considered loss of innocence) and Criston’s betrayal of his vows.

I think for thematics and all they could have had her be dark haired during the who gets to be heir at the beginning and then showing her with silver hair to indicate both the time passage and to make her look more like the rest of the Targs would have done a decent job aswell, since they aged her up quiet a bit in the show. Maybe give her a few darker streaks during the first 5 episodes and then make her fully silver haired for the rest.

They did dragon riding so much better in this show. Daenerys came off Drogon looking like the cover of a beauty magazine. Aemond came off Vhagar actually looking like he wrangled and rode a monster. I never realized how poorly dragon riding was portrayed in GoT until they started doing it in HotD.
