My theory is that when Jon died he warged into Ghost, but when he came back to life he stayed in direwolf's body and Ghost took contol over Jon's body. I'll say this regarding R+L=J and the "too obvious" solution being Rhaegar and Lyanna: If it makes sense, is satisfying, and the reader could put that together, then obvious isn't an issue. The issue comes from the writers thinking that "too obvious" is a bad thing because "we gotta keep the reader guessing! A mystery is only fun when the solution comes out of nowhere and no one could have predicted it!" The most satisfying part of a plot twist isn't the twist itself, but the audience going either "I KNEW IT" or "I SHOULD HAVE SEEN THAT COMING."

Personal Theory I haven't really seen talked about Rhaeagar WAS Azhor Ahai and Robert doomed everyone. Unlikely, I know. But it would fit the whole subversion of tropes theme. The "chosen one" is dead and now they gotta make do with what they've got. No "clean" victory. @@CoRLex-jh5vx I think Griff dyes his hair because Valyrian hair is a _dead_ giveaway (mostly a giveaway for likely being rich and influential, to the average person; more likely to be harassed by muggers I guess). The eyes aren't that much of a giveaway when most people probably won't even notice the colours of his eyes, or will confuse them for being blue by some trick of the mind (if you are expecting someone to *not* have purple eyes, you can easily convince yourself that you're just seeing wrong).

It would also have a lot of other amusing implications. For one, it would mean despite despising Targs to the point of rebelling and usurping the throne, Bobby B ended up marrying a Targ and raising(in the loosest sense of the word) Targ children, complete with consanguineous parentage. And after he died, the Iron Throne has returned to Targaryen hands. Related to this, it would mean Joffrey, whose illegitimate claims to the crown in part led to the Wot5K, would have a, if somewhat dubious, claim to the Iron Throne. Jaime wouldn't only be a kingslayer but a kinslayer as well. Funnily enough, it would also mean he unknowingly followed Aerys' last command; he killed his father. If theories of FAegon being a Blackfyre is true, it would mean the upcoming conflict between Cersei, Dany, and FAegon would be akin to all the Targ civil wars rolled into one, Dance of Dragons+Blackfyre Rebellions.

I think what people overlook with what Varys is telling Kevan is that no information is ever safe, and Varys knows that better than anyone. Even though he's planning to kill Kevan, telling him his big secret would be absolutely pointless and could come back to bite him if somehow Kevan escapes, or there was an eavesdropper, etc. And, as anyone who knows psychology can tell you, one of the most important parts of projecting a sustained lie meant to last, is living the lie. The lie must become truth, and you must treat it as such as much as you possibly can. You never admit that it is false to anyone, and even try limit outright discussion with those in the know. Because, at the end of the day, yes Kevan is dying but that goes both ways. Why would Varys tell him the truth? What does he have to gain from that? In fact, I believe that not even fAegon knows he's not Aegon. I think he truly believes it, and they've made sure this is so because then he can never give up the game because he doesn't know there is one.

Something I find weird about theories on Daenerys turning mad and destroying King's landing is how nobody mentions the wild fire. I think she will have a small snap and accept to have SOME civilian casualties during a fight in king's landing. But the moment she uses her dragons. KABOOM. Huge chain reaction. The whole city burns. She will be hated by everyone and be crushed by remorse. Letting herself die or become too vulnerable to avoid getting killed by her now many enemies.

Since Cersei wasn't aware of Jamie's reasoning behind killing Aerys and saving the people of King's Landing, I really wish the show would have had Cersei place wildfire all over the city and plan to ignite it and burn it down rather than admit total defeat. Jamie would have had to kill her in order to save the city once again, and this would have been fulfilled the prophecy of the Valanquar as well as being a tragic and poetic end to Jamie's redemption arc. But cmon having him get crushed by some bricks was pretty genius and I guess that's why D&D make the big bucks. They're just on that next level of writing and scripting television.

@@jamesbowers5478 It actually doesnt make a whole lot of sense this way, and is far less well established in the books than the show. Littlefinger and Olenna are pretty unlikely candidates. The Tyrells have been alienated from kings landing for a long time at this point, and have arrived while Joffrey is being reigned in by Tywin. You dont get any of them hanging around and sussing out Joff like you do in the show, and in the book it is more explicitly stated that they dont really care who marge marries so long as it is king. Nobody would openly conspire with Littlefinger to commit regicide when that regicide wouldnt change the overall people in power. He would turn around and betray you. He was desperate at this point too and was losing what little power he had under Tywin. He has every reason to try and suck up and double cross the Tyrells.

@@Luminousreign Actually there’s a number of hints that the Tyrells wanted to kill Joffrey, and have Margaery marry the much more controllable Tommen instead. The Tyrell women, anyway. Mace clearly had nothing to do with it. We know Olenna is very dangerous, and protective of Margaery. She gets info out of Sansa confirming the negative rumors about Joffrey’s abuse. Also IIRC in the book the Tyrell girls share some sort of “look” when this happens. Also Olenna straightens Sanaa’s hairnet. I think Sansa actually herself thinks this means Olenna poisoned Joffrey when Littlefinger makes some remark to her about the hairnet. I actually remember it being pretty open and shut, I don’t think you’re supposed to question if Olenna poisoned Joffrey.

A theory that I've come up with: Craster is Maegor Targaryen, the missing infant son of Prince Aerion Targareyen and Daenora Targaryen. Maegor was born in around 232 AC; looking at Craster's portrayal in the TV show, this would make him around the same age. Craster's official back story states: "Craster is the bastard son of a man of the Night's Watch and a wildling woman from the village of Whitetree. His father abandoned his mother after Craster was conceived, and when his mother tried to bring him to Castle Black, she was chased off by members of the Watch. His father's name is never mentioned." It's interesting that the time frame when Craster would have been born the maester at the Wall would have been a young Aemon Targaryen (baby Maegor's uncle) and the Lord Commander was Brynden Rivers (baby Maegor's great great uncle). I'm proposing that one of them, if not both of them somehow smuggled their nephew beyond the wall and left him to be raised by the wildlings. I don't know how/ why they'd have felt the need to do this, as this time period isn't something George RR Martin has written about yet; I'm hoping we get to find out in one of the future Dunc & Egg novels what happened when Aemon and Brynden went to the Wall. Seems odd the Craster was born around the same time this Targaryen baby who was heir to the throne went missing. Also, this *could* shed light on why Craster keeps his bloodline pure by marrying his daughters and why Craster needs to do this in order for The Night King to turn the babies into White Walkers, because they have next to 100% pure Valyrian blood.

The only reason why Martin included the detail of Aerys "taking liberties" with Joanna is to include some context as to why Tywin hated Aerys, left his job and later betrayed him. Tywin was a famously petty man, and never forgot or forgave slights. Tywin deeply loved Joanna, so any man that messed with her, even a king, would have become an instant enemy of Tywin.

Regarding A+J=J+C. Cersei and Jaime could have come out “normal” because they were a product of this relationship while Tyrion came out misformed because he’s the only one who would have been a product of incest. I'd like to point out that UnTommen is a supplement to Valonqar Tommen (I've only ever seen UnTommen in Valonqar-related discussions so likely that's the reason the theory even came to be) In this context the scene you described at 1:52:53 gets even darker, if Tommen dies under similar circumstances as in the show (kills himself from grief over something directly caused by Cersei), then he might come back with a strong hateful grudge against Cersei; and as she clutches him to her, drowning in tears of joyful delusion, he wraps his hands around her throat (with a strong zombie grip) and fulfills the prophecy. Highly unlikely (Jaime valonqar is prolly canon) but it's still a great horrifying scene to imagine.

This is the one I really like the most. The foundation is there with the Mountain being brought back and Dondarrion- all grown adults with less memory or sense of self upon revival. I always imagined it as Frankenstein gone horribly wrong. Cersei poisons Tommen under the assumption that FAegon is going to murder them. Doesn't. Then, during the confrontation with Dany she begs our dark doctor to bring her baby boy back to her. It appears to not work. However, just as all firey hell breaks loose on King's Landing with dragons her son awakens and strangles his own mother. His last memories are of his death at her hands. And she dies in a pool of her own tears choked out by her youngest son. Kinda full circle with Cersei, but yeah, probably Jamie.

The omega-meta theory: GRRM lied to Dan and Dave in their planning meeting on purpose, and the show past season 5 was actually just flat out wrong, basically a fan fiction. He told them plot details that were never real but some half-truths. He has a completely different idea for the story of the last two books. It's his life's work and I dont believe in the slightest he would give away the crescendo to some HBO writers. Nah, he's sitting on the real story, and the version he gave DnD in their 30 minute production meeting was like the dry run of one possible ending and he knew it was bad going in, but did it anyway just to fuck with the book readers. Varys secretly being Serra Blackfyre in disguise influencing things behind the scenes in her son's favor seems like a semi-viable theory. Secretly being a woman would explain the feminine face that gets mentioned a bunch of times. A bald head would hide Valyrian blonde hair. Being fat would disguise the appearance of breasts, and flowing clothes would help hide wide hips. @@daystillnight it's possible that we may never get an ending, but I'm optimistic, I do think we will definitely at least get Winds before he passes away, and statistics show that he will likely live for a while longer at least, he is a multi-millionaire with fast access to the best medical care in the country, statistics show he will probably live for at least another 5 years or so as long as he doesn't end up in a car accident or something, and possibly much longer barring some complications with obesity/old age, that's definitely enough time for Winds to come out as long as he doesn't completely give up, as for A Dream of Spring, well that's up in the air if his notes aren't to be seen by anyone after he unfortunately passes, even if we don't get an ending, it is his series in the end, and we should be happy that we got to experience the series at all.

I know someone else has probably already said but as an extension of the “Ramsey Flayed Hornwood’s fingers” @ 4:55:18 is because Reek talks about trying to bite one of his fingers off after it being flayed in Reek I. He says the pain is so bad from the flesh drying and cracking that he tried to bite it off to stop the pain. That explains why lady hornwood would bite her finger off MUCH better than hunger (also explains why her bones would be gone).

I thought the same too but Tyrion born in 273, a year before, in 272, there was a "anniversary tourney" to celebrate the 10 years of King Aerys ruling the kingdom, Joanna assisted and Aerys made uncomfortable comments about her breast, but it is theorized that Aerys took advantage of Joanna and that's why Tywin try to resign the job of hand of the king the next day.

@@danielruiz8259 the theory completely ruins the relationship between Tywin/Tyrion, I highly doubt it's true, also Tywin tried to resign the next day because he was mad at Aerys because he refused to marry Rhaegar to Cersei (Tywin proposed the marriage during the tourney and Aerys refused) and because he insulted Joanna by saying that nursing her children ruined her breasts which humiliated her, not because Aerys took advantage of Joanna, I don't support the theory but it's more likely that Jaime and Cersei are secretly Aerys' children than Tyrion IMO, because their relationship with Tywin isn't as important to their characters as Tyrion and because the books did technically say that Aerys "took some liberties" during Joanna's bedding ceremony when she got married to Tywin, IMO that just means Aerys got a bit too handsy with her but I guess it's technically possible that he had sex with her, again I don't support the theory but I think it's more likely than Tyrion Targaryen because there is at least some evidence, even if it's only one line.

The best explanation for "the others aren't evil" is just that they were created to defend the children of the forest from the first men. Despite being pushed to the north wasteland, they still have that "divine" (and not strictly evil) mission. This much seems almost Canon, and I'm excited to see what twists and details GRRM includes to flesh out this dynamic

But if they're not evil why do they take joy in killing people? Their literal first appearance in the books is them basically playing around with a young knight, cackling and letting him fight a bit before brutally executing him. Could they have been corrupted somehow?

​@@tite93 In World War II, if an Allied soldier laughed and played around with a Nazi soldier before killing him, I'm betting that most people at the time would have been fine with that. Nazi soldiers were seen as evil, even though in reality they were often just innocent German civilians conscripted into the military and forced to fight. Similarly, the White Walkers would view all humans as evil. They wouldn't take the time to differentiate between good humans and bad humans. They were all a threat. The one theory I have that I haven't seen talked about much is the idea that the Children of the Forest made White Walkers so they could be killed by dragon glass since that was what the weapons of the Children of the Forest were made of. But the Children of the Forest realized that the zombies that the White Walkers created couldn't be killed by dragon glass. That is why the White Walkers suddenly became a threat to the Children of the Forest as well. I know the show didn't support this theory, but I think it might still be supported by the books and it would explain why the Children of the Forest thought they could control the White Walkers but discovered they couldn't.
