Discipline has been used for those thousands of years, produced some of the finest men and women, produced some of the finest armies in the world throughout the history of man, has made the United States military the finest fighting force in the world today today to protect everyone here including undisciplined people like yourself who would rather run loose on the streets like looters, anarchists, rapists, murderers, thieves, and other criminals and loosers that chose not to have the necessary guidance that comes from discipline. Its a proven common sense method that has guided human beings all over the world. Please get off this thread because your arguments make no sense at all.

My dad was in the marines. He says when you get off the bus, the seeming absurdity of the drill instructors behavior is funny for about an hour or maybe less. It doesn't take long for you to take it very very serious and then it starts breaking you down.
@eljoshsfgaming63353 жыл бұрын
Something about his story just doesn’t sound right, for me it was the complete opposite. All the screaming and throwing shit etc had everyone on edge for the first 3-4 weeks, then after that it more so just becomes funny and it isn’t so serious anymore. I’m not denying his experience, it’s just odd because for the majority of people that I was with it was the complete opposite

- OdysseuS - Speaking from drill experience. It's so damn hard when you're in a smaller group where your drill leaders are more inclined to crack occasional joke. We were running joddies to the "C-130 Rollin' Down The Strip!" tune. (Joddy = a light, formation jog in which the drill instructor says a phrase, and the flight repeats it back.) And then one of our officers, on a 5 year old's bicycle, catches up with us on the taxiway. And proceeds to ride circles around us with the song "I can ride my bike with no handlebars" playing from his fucking iPhone. Our Drill Instructor just shattered into laughter. We forgot where we were in the damn joddy!

Everyone here who is criticizing, ridiculing or threatening that drill instructor will never have what it takes to be a true warrior. Because to be a disciplined soldier you have to sit there and take it. Those DI's are trained to yell at you. They are trained to break you. So you can get out of the civilian mindset. So go ahead, keep telling us that they're the "Kids who always got beat up in school." That just tells me that you don't have what it would take to make it as a marine recruit.
@GothicBarry10 жыл бұрын
And at what point in your life did you ever get the impression that we all even would want to be marine recruits?!? And don't worry... my mindset is pretty much different already without some nitwit yelling commands at me. 3:)

Again, with the "DI's are dicks and yell too much." THAT'S THEY'RE JOB. THEY ARE PAID TO TRAIN MARINES. They are very nice people, I have friends that were veterans who used to be DI's and they are really nice people. Those who think they are dicks are just afraid of them.

This clip never gets old. BTW, if I had to take a lucky educated guess as to why the Drill Instructor was adamant about drilling the cadet like he was, I'd be willing to bet that it was due to the fact that everytime he lowered the rifle for Port Arms it could be heard. Why do videos like these always invite the "My Country's Soldiers Are Better Than Yours" comments? Personally, I'm glad Canada and the USA are allies and I'm glad Canada answers the call of war when our Queen and her country requires it. In the end, better to be brothers and sisters against a common foe, than to compare meaningless 'dick' sizes at a KZbin video. On that bombshell, I would like to thank the soldiers, marines, specialists and other military personnel for their services in our respective countries. ♥

GeekMaster6000 - Abrasive as in "harsh tone" or "unpleasant"? Meaning that you felt I was being offensive (insulting) or do you mean you felt I was being critical? Regardless, I read some of the comments below and felt that many people often use videos like this to say "My country is better than yours". If you saw my comment as being insulting/offensive, it was meant to be opposite. That's why I put in the last sentence thanking people of their service, regardless of their country of service.

Isn't that Air Force ROTC? Seems like that MARINE should have been telling him to stand up and sit down in an easy chair instead of teaching him how to hold a rifle.

You DO know that for the most part it's all an act right? I'm quite sure 99% of future drill instructors are NOT in the halls of their current highschools & colleges yelling and screaming at their classmates. LOL....it's part of the job.And besides, all you see on youtube is the yelling and sceaming. Very rarely do you see the mentoring that goes on.

Eric D Aww.. look at you: You think you actually mean something and you can tell others what to do. Aren't you the cutest thing ever? :-P It's funny to see how people THINK they know enough about a person who comments to start blabbering all kinds of bullshit... You don't know a single thing about me and still you asume that you do.... moron. And maybe those drill-instructors shape YOUR society, but that's about it frankly. Guess you people need some yelling nutjob to get you to fit in society then. (And to be honest I pity you for it.)

I am a US Marine and I honestly hated the screaming and the yelling, but after I graduated bootcamp and saw the new recruits coming in and acting sloppy and unorganized, I wanted to yell at them too. It's a matter of building discipline. Sure there are other ways, but this is the armed forces way of building it. If you want to know more about boot camp and why we do what we do, you can message me anytime

Look, people. Joining the Marines means something not physically but mentally. It represents pride, loyalty, guts, and glory. Joining proves you've got what it takes to fight for what you believe. And instructors aren't always mean. When you're a recruit, they piss on you and toughen you up, to make sure you're not a phony or just some wanna be. They want to see if your truly want to fight for your nation, not just say you did. After all the training is over, and they're sure. They make you run a long track. A terribly hard track. And at the end, you get a pin, a pin of the US marines.. and for the first time your instructor looks at you with respect and says "It's been an honor teaching you, Marine". During that moment even the strongest and the quietest People cry tears of joy...Learn something from these brave men..

he kept doing it because he would call for inspection in which you'd pull up your rifle and pull down the bolt for in section and you'd have to look down while pulling the bolt down and this cadet didn't look down as he was pulling the bolt down. I don't see how he made it to comp for rifle team if he didn't know this simple movement.

A lot of people are commenting without being aware of the situation. First off the ones in blues are Air Force JROTC cadets. High school students in the military program to get a taste of what military training, work, and life are like. The drill instructor yelling is a Marine Corps DI; from my own experience in JROTC back in high school the cadets are probably in a voluntary leadership school in a join military base. The cadets spend a week there doing many of the things those who are active military do; obviously very watered down. One of the things they do experience is rigorous mental training that recruits go through from DIs. The point of the program is to allow these kids to experience the military before committing and making a very important decision in their life and career. Many of these kids want to enlist post HS or pursue a commission; it is important to let them understand the military is not as in the movies or video games; and a large part of military training and discipline is rigorous, difficult and threatening. Drill instructors never actually hurt nor ridicule cadets/recruits, they speak ina loud and firm voice, yell and wave their arms around, most people are not used to that. In this video specifically, the cadet is mistakenly responding to the DI each time he receives an order; so the DI keeps telling him the same order until he gets it right. Eventually the cadet figured out he was making a mistake by responding to the DI when he should be silent. In a school setting he would be corrected more gently, but in a program where they are supposed to experience training similar to those in the active military the DI is only doing his job.
