The high torque impact wrench , has a hammering effect, and because of that will be slower. But, the impact prevents breaking the fasteners on or off, because when it gets stuck, the hammer effect will push it in. So always use an impact on old bolts nuts and fasteners that are seized or rusted because their will be less chance of breaking the bolt. Same with drilling into concrete, you need a hammer drill because a regular drill will just mess up the drilled hole and leave a mess. It depends on the application

A screw is a simple machine in and of itself. It translates torque to forward motion. How much torque is required depends on the thickness of the screw and how deep it should go. Realistically, it is used to keep 2 objects together, and in the case of a self tapping screw only the piece on the side of the head needs to be pre drilled. In my opinion, for operating the tool in one hand or harder to reach places then I would go with an impact, while the drill may be faster. Also I found that if I drill a hole and then screw into it, the impact has more torque to tightly bind into the next board, whereas the drill starts to spin the screw and ultimately it is just spinning in place. The impact however can be more likely to strip a screw, but the drill is more likely to crack a screw off in the wood while it’s spinning. At one point though, drills were all that existed or were cheaper than buying both an impact and drill. There is however a very important role for a type of drill to screw in lags. A 90 degree drill can get into spots where a drill and impact cannot, and that is where I would use a drill (90 degree drill) over an impact

@@ToolswithSoAlz You know this is a video, right? I just rewatched it and timed both tools. The impact took 12 seconds, the drill took 9 seconds. And I’m not a kid. I’ve been doing construction since before battery powered impacts existed. Now why don’t you make a new video and drive ten of those lags with each tool, while on top of a ladder, holding the board over your head with one hand and the tool in the other hand.

Ma'am here's how I know you're a liar. Funny enough because it only takes two words and shows why the drill is the only tool you would use for this. Before I educate you about your incompetence I'm just going to straight out tell you that you're a liar and have never stepped onto any job site. Those two words are...pilot hole. Don't worry, I know you don't know what that means.

Where did I go so wrong in life that this is the third version of the same video that's popped onto my feed

If you were a man you would know that you could just keep scrolling. You're not a man though.

I was doing a deck today. They foreman told me to get rid of the drill driver that it was no good for he job. He's been a carpenter for 40 years

Then he's an idiot. Used the drill to build a huge deck this past weekend

Nah, it’s obvious you weren’t pressing down very much with the impact, yet with the drill you gave it a much firmer push!! I’m calling BS on this!!

I like the M12. My favorite though is just that. It's my favorite. And that's the Ridgid.

8 mississippis on the first drill, 7 mississippis on the second drill. Congrats you saved 1 second. 😂

Hope you have hearing protection on man. Not quite the same as testing but I've lagged long hallway ledgers to trusses with an impact wrench, and there was no chance I could screw more than a few without ear hurtin

I do wear hearing protection now

I think the drill is better because of the garbage fasteners these days. I have had several screws like that with a head that twists off half way down when using my impact.
