Had a similar idea about the drilling rig awhile back. On a much smaller scale. Hand drill and a garden auger. Works right up until you hit that first rock. Then your wrist says "wut the (insert explicative)!" . Going to try again someday but with the drill anchored to the ground somehow. Probably use aluminum frame for weight savings. Always enjoy your enthusiasm and creativity.
@allansgoldmining3 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott. I know what you mean about hitting that first rock ! This rig eliminates that shock for sure. Aluminum would certainly save weight, provided you have proper welding equipment to assemble it. Actually, you could make the motor mount and verticle sleeves out of steel, and verticle posts of aluminum. Unlike metals would make a smoother bearing surface. Good luck on your build !

Hey Allan after watching your video a d notice your reach above your head for the crank, what about mounting the hoist on the same bar as your auger and have a pully on the top... just so if it goes lower than say waist high you're not hyperextended
@allansgoldmining3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nathan. Thanks for watching and your suggestion. Someone mentioned that in my other video. Maybe you ? Anyway, I looked into it, and determined that placing the crank on the auger bar would cause offset torque, causing the sleeves attached to the platform to bind on the upright poles. However, if I were to install linear bearings, it might work, but that would open another can of worms dealing with dust and grit. Best of luck to you !

Hey Allan! Man, that rig is sweet! Even just to loosen it all up. I’ve been hoping for another video using it since you made it. Was that really 2 years ago? I would have thought last fall. Lol I had a thought watching. It’s so dry, I wonder if the gold is sinking as the auger is basically causing liquefaction in the hole. Maybe get out everything you can with hands/ shovel and shop vac up the last few inches (like a pans worth)? Then pan the vacuum dirt? Just an idea. Might even be able to ignore the bucket process and just get the top stuff out of the way as the auger is reducing to cons in the bottom of the hole? I’d watch that video!
@allansgoldmining3 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris ! Thanks for watching. I thought about going back to get the shop vac for that very reason. But the holes was shallow enough, so they were easy to clean by hand. Hope to make more drill rig vids in the near future. Best of luck to you Bro !

Hi Chuck. Yep this is a good way to prospect. Hoping to hit a good spot soon. Thanks for noticing.. I have several extensions.
