If you use a magnetic filter in your processing machine will that help separate the black sand from the gold?
@allansgoldmining

Good question Carl. This problem has been studied for decades without much success. The fine gold tends to get trapped in the magnetite filings. However, there is promising devices on the horizon, such as the Spin-it-off. I use it regularly on the sluice cons before panning. They are working on a production model for high volume.

Thank you watching the video. That's how standard sand filters operate for water/sewage treatment facilities. Also the same for swimming pool sand filters. The fine sand layer on top, and more coarse layers below. As the fluid flows through the sand, the suspended particles accumulate on the grains of sand. This attracts more particles to accumulate onto each other, eventually creating a layer called a "Schmutzdecke" (seen in the video) which attracts more fine suspended particles. Eventually this accumulation becomes unstable and they break off the sand and migrate downward as large clumps. These clumps adhere to larger sand layer, and the process repeats itself. By the time the fluid reaches the intake pipe, most of the suspended particles are removed. Eventually the filter becomes fully loaded and the sediment needs to be purged. I can explain much more, however, I thought I'd give you the "Reader's Digest" version. Thanks for your question.

Hi there Frank from Australia here, there is a lot of fine dust blocking up your filtering system, have you tried using a blowing fan too blow the very fine particle dust out before wetting it down, then putting it though the sluice I'm thinking it mite reduce the slime silt sitting on the filtering system chocking it up hence having clean water for a longer period I'm sure set right the the light dust will fly and the gold will stay. Great unit love your show thank you Allan.

Hi Frank. I'm not sure how well it would work, because there's lots of fine gold is dust. Could be losing it in the wind. Would be very difficult to regulate blower for best efficiency. If get a working model, let me know. Perhaps a woodworking cyclone might help ?

@@allansgoldmining I'm thinking about 12 v fan with controller and solar panal though a dry wash first, mybe you could set the fan by the black sand weight recovery so micro dust is removed, if you removed only 1/16 or at best 1/8 total of this micro dust [ i think more is achievable ] , your wash recovery water will be so much cleaner for a longer period run time hope it works for you Frank from Australia thanks Allan

Hi Dennis. Thanks for your question. The base is expanded aluminum (1/2" squares) bended to shape. The 400 mesh is wrapped around frame. @allansgoldmining
@allansgoldmining 3 жыл бұрын
Very good question Sharon ! Yes, I could do that, however, that is not my goal. I'm designing a process that recycle water, thus significantly reducing consumption. This is very critical for desert mining. This way, the weekend prospector needs only a 100 gallons for the adventure and recover 40% more gold than someone operating a dry washer moving same volume of material. The tank you see is 500 gallons, however, I fill it to only 100 gallons for weekend. My end goal is to make dry washing obsolete. Thanks for watching ! 🤠⛏⚒👍

It does a great job ! The black sand content is very high on my claim. Prevents the -100 mesh gold from settling, thus it has to be cut in layers. Regular gold pan is worse ! Because of this, I stop cutting once the black sand appears, maximizing fine gold recovery. Use a Blue Bowl to finish it. Screens of 25, 50, 75, and 100 mesh.

Yikes!! U be getting big old catfish in that there mud. If you made the 3 layers of filter material into modular bins you could just swap out the first layer bin twice or three times before the second layer bin gets changed out then the last layer bin once every however long it takes to get funked up. Then you could even have more than one layer of each type of filtering material depending on what type of ground you're working. From the looks of it you could probably run multiple layers of the fine material filter only? On your ground Also this will give you more extra sale items!! That you will already be producing anyway. You could have a standard bin shape Then just sell the different mesh size bases that hold each of size of filter material. Like your work mate

Am not into mining but I would still use the Trommel to filter out the large bits so it doesn't get into the deck (dry); classifying the materal. This way all of the large rock will just roll out. From the bottom it would go into the deck of yours. You would have to place it above or use some belts to move it up and into the deck. I been look at some of this that you have as it would work for a small scale e-waste recovery. Am not like most of these other hobbiest just looking for silver and gold but all of the metal on it minus steel. That's a bit too much for a small scale operation. Another thought would be to isolate it the materal to black sand. Let it dry out in all of that heat, take it home and run it through a blue bowl. That would be easier I think on you. Besides, if it is that small and panning it you would lose allot because its so small.
@allansgoldmining
@allansgoldmining 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lee. Actually, it's better to wash all rocks on the upper shaker deck. Loose too much gold dry screening. The upper deck screens down to 1/4" before entering sluice. Larger material exits to tailings pile. The slurry from the sluice falls onto the dewatering deck. The 1/4" material helps advance the gooey +74 micron clay to the tailings. Adding belts and another trommel complicates things when trying to develop a portable unit for hobby prospecting. It also has to be ergonomically functional for someone with pick and shovel, not an excavator. Eventually this plant will be trailer mounted and ergonomically feasible for single man operator. Please check out my latest video "Desert Gold Wash Plant Innovations 2021" for newest developments. Best of luck to you prospecting !

This is different. I done extensive trials on this. Lowering the slope angle fails to expedite the gooey clay off the deck. Greater angle causes clay and water to slide off unfiltered. I'm working in high clay content, which is excellent testing. Material with less will do extremely better, without need to change angles. Yeah, in earlier trials I experienced retrograde creeping at certain frequencies. Had create an interference pattern to prevent it. That's part of the patent request. Thanks for watching !! 🤠⛏⚒👍

Hi Howard. Yes, the sand filter idea has been around for centuries and used for all kinds of applications. Never seen for mining, especially for small scale. So, decided to kick it out there for everyone to scratch their heads on it. Lol !! 🤠⛏⚒👍

Nice the equipment keeps getting smaller and smaller. I used to set up an easy up when I'd go opal mining. Now I wear a wide brim sombrero. But in this application I would imagine that the easy up probably helps keep the water from evaporating.

Alan Curious of the fittings being used to clamp your systems framework together. Looks solid. And easier to reposition cross member when comparing to welding. If you would please reveal the product brand name description/source. my garden in Tucson is calling for a shade enclosure and the round tubing would be perfect. Thanks in advance.
