I remember my dad taking trips to Quartzite, and bringing some flakes home. A simple dry washer and a weekend. And stories of coyotes and rattlesnakes, lol. Now that I have moved a little closer to the area, I can understand the country nearby. Much of it is red here but quickly becomes the country I see in this video. I have tried dry panning one of the washes in Southern Utah, but in my novice attempt, I was not able to recover any color at all. This is a good video on how to mine a wash in the desert. I will have to try it again. Good video, and thanks for it!

@allansgoldmining3 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert. They are special order from Snake River Products. Called the Pickle Puss mat, designed by Shawn Dilley. Works excellent on fine gold !
@richardrobertson13313 жыл бұрын
Great video; thanks for sharing. Two questions: 1. Is a permit necessary when pumping water from a stream or lake into your transport container? 2. Have you tried to settle out the clay a little quicker using gypsum dust (calcium sulfate)? We used it to clear the suspended silt in fish ponds in my early days, about two tablespoons per 100 gallons of water.
@allansgoldmining3 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard ! Not sure regarding about regs for pumping on public lands. Feds and States have their unique rules. Check your local area. I get my water from a private well. You can use gypsum to settle silt. However, the suspended gypsum particles tend to clog my sand filter.. I use a pool floculant that does a good job.

Would it be helpful to run a magnet thru the dry material before you run it thru your plant to get rid of the black sand.?????
@allansgoldmining4 жыл бұрын
No really, because too much fine gold gets trapped within the iron filings. I have a Spin It Off that works very well removing black sand from cons. However, not practical for volume material. Best to have a sluice mat like I have that keeps gold and eliminates black sand. Please visit my channel and watch some of my wash plant upgrades a couple years ago. I go into detail on the mat. Thanks for watching !!
@BruceschultzAU4 жыл бұрын
Great video mate two questions what is the purpose of the trommel after the sluice ? And was that.7 from a cubic yard ? Cheers Bruce
@allansgoldmining4 жыл бұрын
Good questions mate ! The purpose of the dewatering trommel is to conserve water. Instead of using thousands of gallons to process a cubic yard, it only needs 100 gallons. In the desert, there is no water, so it has to be hauled in. It's precious. Designing a dewatering filtration system is key for maximum gold recovery. Please visit my channel. I have multiple videos regarding dewatering and challenges. One of the greatest problems with a common water recirculating system is eventually water becomes gooey because of suspended particles of silt or clay less than 150 microns. This prevents gold capture in the sluice. A proper filtration system reduces this and increases longevity of water used. Yes, that is .7 grams in 1 cubic yard. Thanks for watching !

This may be a simple question but why the square pan? I've been watching you for years so I know you have a good reason. superior to a traditional round pan?
@allansgoldmining4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. It is a Maverick Pan by Snake River Products. I love using it to pan concentrates. Very efficient trapping fine gold in the lower corner. The panning motion is side to side, which mechanically easier than swirling, and allows fine gold to settle more effectively during the stratification process. Notice how I bump the pan with my left hand. That jolt cases gold to drop. Cutting is easier too. Hold pan at 45 degrees and dip vertically into water to remove blond material. The riffles are very effective preventing gold from escaping. I use a Garrett Super Sluice pan for general sampling, because it works good on bulk material. Best of luck to you !

There's truth to that. Some of the nuggets I find appears like iron rust. At first glance it would be ignored, but I've trained myself to be on the lookout. Call it "Dirty Gold." 19:00 Also bear in mind that the Gold Rush miners are running hundreds of yards per day, while that claim might only have a couple of hundred yards in gold-bearing soil. Not worth their time at all, but plenty worth a prospector's time. It's all a matter of scale.
