Roughnecks: Computers nerds could never do this job Computer Nerds: Hold my engineering degree

Another beautiful example of modern engineering. What happens when a sensor goes out or your "Iron roughneck" goes out? I don't see any alternatives. Not only are there no tongs there isn't a place to rig them up. It's bad enough on conventional top drive rigs with Iron roughnecks to get hands to use rig tongs that are already mounted. I apologize for being critical. But, I am a fishing tool hand. I only go to work when something goes wrong on rig. I look for points of failure in equipment and processes. By nature, training, and experience I have to think "what if this goes wrong, what then?" I've seen rigs get stuck due to not being able to rotate, work the pipe, or circulate. Most of my equipment cannot be make up using any automated torque assist. It has to made up with rig tongs.

A lot of offshore rigs are fully automated they don't have near the problems you think they have every sensor on board or on location that can go out this is the future of the oil field

@josephnelson5463 I've been on drillships, floaters and Jack ups. I've been on modern flex rigs, kelly rigs, workover on down to pole rigs and snubbing units. As far as offshore, the larger rigs have an extensive warehouse on site with replacement parts. If they doubt have it they are never more than a helicopter flight from spare parts. Land rigs can be a day away. But, while they're waiting for the replacement part all of these rigs have the old tried and true rig tongs to break connections and pull up into the casing. This rig doesn't have the room to rig up thay alternative. Quite often you find yourself in bad spot and need to pull pipe to keep from getting stuck. If your shut down and unable to pull up hole you risk loosing millions in bha.

We have this kind of Rig, but One problem, when we stop it, onather day when you stat it, many units cannot work. That moment the mud Pump cannot work, when you start mud Pump Strokes increase it self.what we can do?

How to contact you ? I need to know how to modify rpm lower than set today. I need to use the rig for normal drilling operation. Now the rig has high rpm just for coring ....

I want to see how computers do it if you work at the oil field know how important is to save money and have a dependable workers that have everything ready before its use ..that seems very good because is new and clean I wish to see how he is going to handle all the mod ..oil and weather at the comfort of his chair and the small window...I agree to improve for a better but only the people that works day after day probably know what the real needs would work the best for them ...I agree with you showing all this and you guys forgot about the B.O.P

how calculate toerque by psi - lb*ft ??
@sukhoiboy41402 жыл бұрын
psi x in^2 would equal the force. and then multiply that force by the radial distance (in ft) for the torque. (in units lbft)

awesome so all you need is some computer nerd who never worked a day in his life controlling it. Bravo

what powers the Hydraulic rig?what king of liquid is used to power the rig
@mattfrench83722 жыл бұрын
Diesel powered generators make electricity to power hydraulic pumps to run hydraulic actuated tools. It's a MONUMENTAL pile of crap. Slow. Probably leaks and leaves more hydraulic oil behind than the well it drills will produce. Just an over engineered pile of junk.
