I haven't played HDII but watched friends do so and I'm a fan of a lot of grim sci-fi and cyberpunk so found the idea of faked/artificial (heavy air quotes) drinks rather than things like fresh fruit or fermented ingredients fascinating. Can relate. I have a 6 tap Keezer, one of which is for water, and it's gotten so bad that when it runs out we just don't drink water. It's like we forget that there's a perfectly good tap with flat water that comes out. (A little trick if you don't already do this, you can force carbonate your water by cranking the c02 then attaching the line to the output and vigorously shaking it for about 4 minutes. I suppose there's some risk to it, but I've done it once or twice a week for close to a decade and never had a problem. Just keep it moving and you can hear if the c02 is slowing down its flow. Make sure you pull the line immediately, basically while still shaking, so it doesn't have a chance to shoot liquid back up your c02 hose)

Okay this episode is just hitting right in all my favorite hyper focuses. You would be completely safe to try using more of those hops, we all know how much you like doing cool stuff with bitter and non-sweet flavors! Before being used to flavor beer hops oil was medicine. The reason it has warnings is that it does have compounds which act as a depressant, but much like alcohol has been used medicinally for centuries. A couple of drops of hops oil under the tongue was considered an appropriate adult dose for "insomnia". So even accounting for how bulletproof people in Ye Olden Days were to depressants I think you could do a full drop in a beer. I'm certain there are some IPAs with significantly more, I just don't know the exact math.
