I was forced to watch Mufasa yesterday with my partner's family (the kids picked it and it's Christmas so had to go along with it) and we couldn't help but notice all the evil lions were white in colour with blue eyes. And the good guy lions beat the evil white supremacist lions with the power of diversity when all the elephants and birds joined their socialist utopian collective state. Urgh. It was subtle enough political messaging that the kids didn't notice it but all us adults sure did.

You know what one of my favorite Disney movies is, Treasure Planet. Its considered a box office failure but it don't care. You know what the movie is about? The importance of a father figure and responsibilities to a young man. I will continue to watch this movie over and over because the message and the characters are just so good. There is even a girl boss who is done correctly. Love this movie so much and I want people to give it a chance.

Films used to have a singular producer - the individual tasked with being the middleman between the studios and the director. They won’t abandon “THE MESSAGE”. It’s Disney’s shareholders like Vanguard and Blackrock that invest in DEI initiatives. The shareholders is where the money is at for Disney, not box office performance. As long as Disney crosses off DEI checkboxes in their movies and shows, the money will keep flowing.
