I was forced to watch Mufasa yesterday with my partner's family (the kids picked it and it's Christmas so had to go along with it) and we couldn't help but notice all the evil lions were white in colour with blue eyes. And the good guy lions beat the evil white supremacist lions with the power of diversity when all the elephants and birds joined their socialist utopian collective state. Urgh. It was subtle enough political messaging that the kids didn't notice it but all us adults sure did.

Drinker - I remember an interview with Jim Parsons who is very openly gay. He was asked about seeking out roles that represent him as a gay man. His response was that he sought out roles that would work well for him as an actor and he did not want to limit himself. As an actor he plays characters not himself.

You know what one of my favorite Disney movies is, Treasure Planet. Its considered a box office failure but it don't care. You know what the movie is about? The importance of a father figure and responsibilities to a young man. I will continue to watch this movie over and over because the message and the characters are just so good. There is even a girl boss who is done correctly. Love this movie so much and I want people to give it a chance.

Back in the early 80's, here in the UK, Channel 4 used to put a little red triangle in the corner of tv programmes which contained naughty content. I'm all from them to bring that back but with a little rainbow triangle so that before sitting down to watch a show I know what I'm in for. I started to watch a tv programme called 'Culprits' yesterday and within 10 minutes 'the message' was thrust in my face. I hit the off button - just not interested!

It's no secret Top-down management has become more and more involved with processes which were once the domain of people hired to do specific jobs as professionals. Films used to have a singular producer - the individual tasked with being the middleman between the studios and the director. Now we have many, MANY producers all involved in the daily affairs once relegated to the directors, writers, and other creatives responsible.

They won’t abandon “THE MESSAGE”. It’s Disney’s shareholders like Vanguard and Blackrock that invest in DEI initiatives. The shareholders is where the money is at for Disney, not box office performance. As long as Disney crosses off DEI checkboxes in their movies and shows, the money will keep flowing. For Disney investors it’s all about the Disney+ subscriptions and the Disney park’s revenue. It’s clear that Disney doesn’t care about making good movies anymore

Disney is doing the Bridge thing: being less overt but still going to push the "progressive" message. Case and point: the team in the show's co-ed. What are the chances that they're going to properly show the differences in physicality between the boys and the girls? And how many times are we going to see the girls out play the boys in terms of that physicality? Or have the boys be dumb while the girls are shown to be the smart ones?
