The best cop buddy movie of the 80s didn’t involve two polar opposite personalities, but rather best friends who were just alike, with the two least likely action stars you could imagine: Running Scared with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines. Watching this film, it strikes me as an almost perfect Friday night sleepover movie in junior high. You're with your buddies in the theater with popcorn, candy, and drinks in hand. The algebra test you all took earlier that day is ancient history. You're about to witness two hours of uninterrupted shootouts, explosions, bare-knuckle fights, snappy one-liners, car chases, and (hopefully) a few glimpses of Teri Hatcher's rack. And once the good guys drive off into the sunset and the end credits start to roll, you all walk out completely satisfied, regaling each other with your favorite parts as you wait for your buddy's mom to pick you up. Later that night, after spending hours playing Golden Axe on the Sega Genesis, you'll all stay up until 2:00 AM talking about the cute girls at your school and spinning hopeful theories about how that beautiful blonde in your World History class who smiled at you that one time secretly likes you. Finally, you drift off to sleep with the happy thought that summer vacation is just around the corner with its promise of endless hours of freedom. And you dream of Teri Hatcher's breasts. Damn, I miss being a kid sometimes.

This movie is silly, cheesy, fun, and entertaining. Never takes itself too seriously and never mocks the audience for enjoying it. Great review Mr. Drinker.

Really similar to Running Man in my opinion. Cheesy but fun and doesn't take itself seriously. Short, sweet, not preachy, and you get to watch Arnie the meta human go beat the hell out of a bunch of strange characters.

I watched it like 20 times, maybe even more, as a kid on VHS, good times :D

I forced my friends to watch this masterpiece. I do not regret it.

If you had to force them... and especially if they didn't enjoy it... you need new friends.

the soundtrack by our good old Harold Faltermeyer was really slap too. after I heard the opening theme and seeing Stallone speeding the car, I know I'm in for the good times 👍

I love Tango and Cash. So quotable, so cheesy but without winking at the audience.

I don't know. Stallone calling Rambo a pussy is a pretty big wink.

really? This show was so phony it was laughable. Remember how they both easily broke put of prison separately while wise cracking? This is nostalgia? The movie was lazy lazy hollywood
@MarkAndrewEdwards2 жыл бұрын
@@nuckygulliver9607 Hence the 'cheesy' reference. If you want a realistic prison movie, look elsewhere. If you want to see Kurt Russell and Sly Stallone kicking ass and cracking wise, sit down and watch.

One of my favorites growing up. I agree…no one could ever accuse Tango and Cash of being high art but it doesn’t attempt to be. It’s fun and entertaining and it works. In addition to the “you…broke that jaw?” I always got a chuckle out of “soap…and don’t flatter yourself.”

I saw this movie opening night and I've loved it ever since. It's a shame they never made a sequel.

Remember a time where Peter Jackson was the bit of jokes when it came to movies far longer than they should’ve been

I saw this movie on UK TV back in the late 90's, randomly channel surfing with a couple of friends. We loved it.
