Just remember that RMB spent an entire livestream talking about how truly grateful he was for Kathleen Kennedy's body of work, and that we were privileged to have her vision of StarWars. He honestly thinks she is one of the greatest producers who ever lived, rather than someone's wife who got a job as PA with Steven Spielberg. The man is a master of cognitive dissonance and routinely uses his politics and personal relationships through which to view film productions.

The last two movies that truly surprised me were the first "Matrix" and "Dark City". I went into both with zero knowledge and was totally blown away. I think the Internet has spoiled movies. And movies just aren't really experimenting anymore. Just constant redoing of the formula.

That said, your reviews, Drinker and MauLer, are entertaining and insightful. Really interesting around 1:50:00 when Gary checks out, RMB asks what MauLer & CD are excited about. And there is a genuine moment of inner groans from everyone thats palpable. MauLer mentions how the next Terminator *could* be incredible, but his left brain and right brain understand the duality of the topic, and admits his pessimism. So Matt Reeves has said that he actually likes walking into projects that are on the rocks or at their low points, because you get an opportunity to do things differently (aka how he wants to make the movie) because its already near-failure, so I assume the suits back the hell up. He’s certainly done it a few times. - and he’s directing The Batman.

Re the Star Wars conversation: I had a bad feeling when I heard that Disney had bought SW. And then I started seeing Disney parade floats with stormtroopers dancing around and whatnot, and I was like, seriously? I'd imagine that's the only reason that stormtroopers were a big presence in the movies- because Disney wanted to capitalize on that image. And so of course they had to have a reason for there being stormtroopers in TFA, and bam, we get a whole retread of A New Hope instead of a continuation of the story.

My 2 bits: 1) In Spidey FFH, Fury was not Fury the entire film (he was Talos playing Fury). Im getting that same vibe from Dr Strange in Spidey NWH. 2) The Eternals is the wrong format for 10+ characters. Eternals was Marvels Watchmen moment (which i wont watch because its not Alan Moore’s show), it really could’ve been a season of slower paced stories about these ageless beings living for millennia. Instead it comes off as a shoehorned in, grafted on afterthought, spliced into current mcu continuity.

The only way to save Doctor Who is to have a massive hiatus, come back in 4 years, and have a brand new doctor wake up from where Jody’s doctor started, and say that her entire run was a delusional nightmare the doctor had, due to regeneration. The reason there shouldn't be an easy mode is because the point of the experience is to figure out how to overcome the challenge. If you're failing, you're doing it wrong, and the game shouldn't just let you win when you are making all the mistakes that should result in defeat. It would be like wanting a test to have the questions to your answers. Or wanting your targets to move to where you're aiming at a firing range, instead of improving your aim. Or wanting your martial arts instructor to let you do all the moves wrong, but give you a black belt anyway. Or get the job, despite botching the interview.

I genuinely held out hope for Strange New Worlds being the great last hope for Star Trek, based on not entirely hating Pike and Number One in STD's 2nd season and the Short Treks, but man, that trailer killed ALL my optimism. Cadet Uhura? Nurse Chapel? Some distant relative of Khan? Even Anson Mount, previously so excited about this role, suddenly looks like he can't wait to be free from his contract. The people making it are creatively bankrupt, and although none of them are making Star Trek, neither are they able to step outside of All The Old Things. It's kind of embarrassing. And with the budgets Star Trek has now, we SHOULD be getting the best Star Trek ever made.

kathleen must have something on one of the big wigs at lucas film, or disney. lets be honest it makes no sense otherwise. My money is on something damaging that happened long ago to her at the hands of someone powerful. Shes capitilizing on that. It would explain her deliberate destruction of thefranchise, it would also explain her pushing women into the lead roles, as she is carrying a chip on her clammy dead shoulders for something in her past. it would also really explain how she rose to the top of the franchise too.. @@Raiden6277 Darn it, man. Hope it opens up soon. Hope you experience it. Really takes you back to a time when movies leave you heartfelt and with a smile on your face. It did to me for sure.

Prince of Darkness is a painful viewing experience. The amount of times a character dies within earshot of everyone else and no one reacts. I hit the wall at the mob and the gunshots right outside the building, and no one inside cared. Match that with every room is being insanely overlit.... it screams made for tv movie.

It’s not so much another Solo movie…it’s another Last Jedi. If they go down that road,Star Wars will never ever recover. Book Of Boba looks good from first trailer

Critical drinker and RMB and Nerdyrotic and M Edge oh my !!! But they are just missing out on Steve Bannon , the Grand Wizard of the KKK , Ethan van Sciver and Heinrich Himmler. Although getting Himmler could be quite a stretch....hmmm....the quartering perhaps?!?🤔
