I haven't seen it yet but I'm due to on Sunday with a mate. He's excited and I didn't have the gusto to break his hope based on the feedback so far from my trusted sources such as present company. I'm kinda dreading it now because I already know how bad it is. Oh well, there'll be an interesting conversation I guess afterwards. We've been there before with Star wars though. I knew that was gonna be a shit show from early on but off we went to watch our hero's demise and all.... Damn it... 😂

Someone extended a theory to me that the movie was made bad on purpose as a middle finger to the studio for forcing it to be made. And thinking about the film it makes scary amounts of sense. It's got that Shawn Michaels vs Hulk Hogan energy.

Regarding the Mummy, Adventure/action movies, and such: I want a D&D movie that's just a very typical pulp adventure story, but in a fantasy setting. A fallen paladin and a reformed hexblade get together a crew to kill a lich (and take his stuff). I have most of the trailer figured out already.

Aside from the obvious things about this movie (goblin, ock, toby, etc.) that i loved i think its worth mentioning that my favourite aspect of the film was that every single spider-man still had their own/unique suit/look. I was worried they would give Toby and Andrew an updated/modern "Disney" spider-suit in this movie that looked like their originals but with the robo-eyes and shit but NO!!! they didnt! and i *loved* it!! because yeah, obviously it helped to differentiate them but the suits themselves are as iconic as the actors so changing them would have totally ruined it the vibe. Also actually, i really liked when sandman showed up too and was just like "hey, remember me? you want some help?" i know mauler thought that was silly but i reckon it was perfectly fitting for a guy made of sand to ask if spider-man remembers him; peter regularly deals with all kinds of crazy crap across all universes so a dude made of sand might not actually be very memorable - in peter's life, meeting a dude made of sand is probably about as common as meeting someone who likes ice in their wine or honey instead of maple syrup on pancakes; sure it's weird but it happens.
@dicksuekkerre4326
@dicksuekkerre4326 2 жыл бұрын
It made sense because who knows how long its been in sandmans universe since theyve met (we saw tobeys Spiderman was considerably older). And sandman was in distressconfused. If you're in distress and you havnt seen some one in years and you are approaching them for help youd ask from the start do you remember me? It's not like they were child hood friends

I bet once they have exhausted expanding their respective multiverses, Warner Brothers and Disney will do a DC Marvel crossover. Sounds crazy, but the idea that Sony would let Spiderman be in the MCU was considered impossible before it happened.

Re the lack of merch selling for the SW sequels- I have an 8 year old niece, and she has tons of things from the Mandolorian and the OT- books, dolls, pins, puzzles, clothing, etc. But not one thing from the sequels. Come to think of it, I don't think anyone in my Star Wars-loving family has anything from the sequels, except for the TFA DVD one of my siblings has. But that's it.

MauLer's idea of Strange actually being Mephisto in disguise is a rare case where I would actually support an official retcon. Not only does that fit so much better for NWH's story, it would be a solid setup for introducing another intimidating villain to the MCU, something it desperately needs (among many other things).

The original matrix is on right now on Sky. I'll enjoy that. It should have been left as a stand alone film in my opinion. Had that been the case it would have aged like Blade Runner did (well until 2049 came out that is, although as far as "reboot sequels" are concerned that's definitely not the worst example, far from it.) The first Matrix stands up really well if you ignore the rest of them though.

28 min: The literary term you are looking for is bathos, and Poe thought that it was a plague in writing. It is essentially using a serious moment to crack some kind of light joke even if it comes at the expense of characterization or the plot. a great example is Hulk/Banner in infinity war tripping in the hulkbuster on the way to the main fight. a competent doctor who is a universally known fighter (after ragnorak) in a multibillion dollar mech just trips out of no where while screaming how happy he is to play with the mech like a little girl would. it usually kills the emotion of a scene just for a quick laugh, most likely done because comedy sells tickets over well written stories, and disney knows that.

Right....."Keanu Reeves isn't as quick at the Kung Fu he learned for the originals." I don't doubt that Keanu trained hard but the man behind the action, Yuen Woo Ping was a legend of HK action cinema and I'm not talking about the 90's stuff most normies know about. His pedigree was long established domestically before he worked in the States. It was YWP and his team that demanded the cast work on a strict training regimen. YWP/Sammo/Lau Kar Leung's choreographic work from the Golden Era of HK action cinema (1966-1994) is without equal IMO. It was rumoured that Keanu had as many as 13 stunt doubles (for the originals), I'm not saying he didn't try hard and I'm aware that he sustained a notable injury on the set of The Matrix which limited him significantly but the extent to which he was doubled was obvious. The same holds true for the rest of the cast. If you understand how action scenes are designed/constructed this is abundantly clear. I could go on a diatribe about how HK action directors never preplanned their action scenes and were masters of choreographing to the camera (without on-set monitors, they had very limited budgets and at best could rely on the rushes at the ends of shoots) and improvisation but I'll cut that short. YWP and his team had no involvement on this film and while I don't particularly rate the action in the original trilogy, it's significantly better than what's "showcased" in this travesty.
@Not_Mr.G
@Not_Mr.G 2 жыл бұрын
Right, it was not Keanu's age. Look at the John Wick movies. He is athletic enough to do some great choreography still. It is entirely how those scenes were trained for, staged, filmed and edited.
@Grandmastergav86
@Grandmastergav86 2 жыл бұрын
@@Not_Mr.G Yeah, I've scene HK stars roll back the years well into their 50's. Age isn't as big a limiting factor as you'd imagine, you can either work on raw ability or work around that (as is the case with Keanu et al).

I still reiterate there is almost endless directions for the story to go after revolutions, even though I don't love the sequels but a fragile peace between humans and machines and the architect at least SAYS that all those plugged into the matrix will be free and their savior just died heroically. It's like a perfect backstory to build on.

Michael Keaton does a good villain actually. He was definitely the star of the Robocop reboot for sure. Although your man playing the good Doctor who's name I can't recall in my drunken stupor is also good in that flick. Unfortunately the guy who plays Alex Murphy did not live up to Peter Weller's performance. Try as he might. I'm not sure if that was his fault as an actor or not but he's a tad wooden like we've seen Hayden Christensen been at times. So I'm not really sure who to blame for that really..... Gary bloody Oldman... That's the doctor... Had to look that up... 😂 He's good in most things he does for his part though. Anyway.. That's all I've got for... Oh wait yeah... Fuck it.

John Walker has BEEN Captain America. He was Captain America long before Sam was, and that didn't take either. It's almost like there's more to a character than a name and a costume.
