After a 2-hour bus ride to Puerto Natales with a 5-hour layover, then a 6-hour bus ride to El Calafate, Argentina, we were excited to embark on our perfect 1st day in Argentina. We only had 2 full days in the area before moving on.
So obviously, our first morning in El Calafate started out with a bang, not!
Were the gawds of Patagonia telling us something? Perhaps, it was a foreshadowing of the “Blood Sacrifice” that I mistakenly partaked in. Mindy did not partake after my experience.
Well, if I am writing this, it must mean we, I, survived with only a few bruised taste buds and a great visit, only wishing that we had a couple of months to explore the vast greatness of the Santa Cruz Province of Argentina.
But on a serious note, besides the rental issue and the blood sausage, the food and area were fantastic. We would love to visit again, but having more time is a must.
And yes, I would go back to the dinner show and tour. It was a great deal, close by, insane amounts of great food, and a learning experience about the care of the herds of sheep. I must remember to pass on the blood sausage. It looked like a dark piece of sausage. So obviously, I took a huge first bite. I did not want to cast it out into my napkin, but instead took it like a man and swallowed it. Wait, that sounds like it could be taken in another way! LOL!
In this chapter, we visit the Perito Moreno Glacier via a boat, a Glacier trek, dinner/tour/show, historical indigenous tour along Lago Argentina with dinner in a cave, and exploring the quaint little town of El Calafate. El Calafate reminds us of a small-town ski resort, without the skiing part.
