Used to live in the flats on the canal next to the hogs head. Timed myself once, was about 30 seconds from my front door to the bar.

Yo-yo-yooooo. I just want to say me and my buddy are from Columbus, OH, but we came across your video looking for pub videos tonight. It’s his birthday night so we are up late drinking together and found you. I appreciate your videos and how authentic you are and how informative you are. No, I highly doubt I’ll get to all these places, but it’s fun to watch and I’ll live vicariously through through. Just subscribed and we will add you to our weekly drinking rotation of videos. Be safe and Merry Christmas! 🎁🎄 -Reese

The "tank" outside Hollins Mill is an FV107 Scimitar, one of the variants of the Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked) aka CVR(T) series of vehicles. It entered service with the British Army in the mid-70s and was retired in 2023. Stayed in SB for a weekend last year in the summer and I really enjoyed 2 days on the lash there. Even went in the nightclub The 'new' Roxy? and that was an experience I tell ya 😂 it was like stepping back into the 80's, apparently nowt new about the place! Our favourite pubs were the Hogs and the Turks Heads, great atmosphere in both and although Sowerby Bridge does have a Spoons it's a real gem of a place for some old pub style supping. Can't wait to go back when it's warmer. Subscribed.

As a southerner I envy you northern folk... your beer is better than ours... my old fella lived in Clitheroe in the mid/late 90s while I was wasting my life at Staffs Uni... I would visit him at the weekend and we checked out local pubs in the Clitheroe area... great beer... superb ales up North ! Respect !

What a ridiculous comment there loads of good beers and breweries in the south. You can whinge about the prices if you like which is more to do with the earning potential but not the choice.
@User5874711 күн бұрын
Not convinced! I used to live in Berkshire in the 80s and the local ales around there were outstanding. Gales HSB, Fullers ESB, Brakespears, etc.... Maybe times have changed - I certainly hope not.
@stevogeezer11 күн бұрын
@@User58747 Alas Brakspears is no longer brewed in Henley and is a shadow of it's former self... used to love their Special and Old Ale beers... Gales was swallowed up by Fuller's... Gales HSB is still being made (by Fuller's ) and is not what it was... Youngs of Wandsworth was taken over by Charles Wells and Youngs beers are now brewed in Bedford... a poor imitation... . Morland was swallowed up by Greene King... Old Speckled Hen is now a poor copy. Fortunately Fullers are still making great beers as are Harveys of Sussex and Wadworth from Wiltshire still make good beers.

Yes, some of the boozers in Sowerby Bridge have strange opening hours, the Blind Pig is only open on Friday's and Saturday's from teatime until the early hours of the following morning. It beats me how pubs can survive on such limited opening hours. It's always a grand night out in Sowerby Bridge, a small town with a big welcome. Have you tried the Big Six at King Cross yet? It is a cracking traditional pub in the middle of a row of Victorian terraced houses, the Big Six is well worth a visit.

I'm sowerby bridge born and bred and I'd call it a ginnel purely on the fact that it's enclosed as you walk through . Good vid , of course living here means I get to enjoy my hometown pubs on a regular basis but as its been said there are other local areas too such as Hebden bridge that offer a good beer crawl too .

The parting shot of the Turks Head you see an opportunity for a prankster as the "K" is missing from the sign on the side of the building. A piece of cardboard cut out in the shape of a "D" could cause a mention in the local paper!

Just outside of Soaby is Ripponden, about 3ish miles away, the oldest pub in Yorkshire ? The Old Bridge Inn, parts of it date from the 13 hundreds, on a pack horse bridge. It’s got the stocks outside, so behave yourself. Original timber framed, clad in stone. Cracking Stout, best sludge going. London Black

Having recently moved to betwixt Halifax and Sowerby, the locals seem to call shortcut passageways both "ginnels" and "snickets". But back in Derby it'd be called a "jitty".

Sowerby and Sowerby Bridge are two seperate places about half a mile from each other, Sowerby Bridge is a town in the Calder Valley and Sowerby is a village on top of a hill. The Rush Cart is a great pub in Sowerby, it is named after the cart used in the local Rushbearing Festival. This festival is held every September, it is organised by the local churches and it raises money for several local charities .the Rushbearing Festival dates back about three hundred years to the time when the churches stone floors were covered with bullrushes. The Rushbearing Cart is hauled up hill and down dale between several townships by the local population in fancy dress. If you are in the Sowerby Bridge area in early September, the Rushbearing Festival is well worth a visit.

Looks like a fun town that Sowerby Bridge. I like all of the brick buildings. I like both the Hogs head and the Puzzle Hall. I like the live folk music in the Puzzle hall. That singer with that group had a great voice! It's nice to see these places in England. There is this British guy on KZbin who does a travel blog called "Backpacker Ben". He goes all over the world and highlights shitholes and then whines about it when he gets there. He has done several videos on these really run down areas in England on his channel as well. Who wants to watch that? So, your videos inspire me to travel to England again and to do some pub crawls in some of your towns! Thanks again!
@neilboulton981312 күн бұрын
Ignore the negative individuals on KZbin who seem to want earn a living as some sort of freak show on misery. You have plenty of them on your side of the pond showing the various Fentenyl skid rows in your major cities. Just to confirm in that part of Yorkshire it is limestone on the building and not brick. I thought the folk music was superb and just the sort music you would expect to hear in a British pub on a chilled Sunday afternoon.
