Balancing the books is my favorite! You always talk about books I never would have looked for on my own 😊

Balancing the Books is such a genius idea!! I've watched every one you've posted so far and it's such a fun way to see when/if you actually read the books on your TBR. I think it's so smart to mash up the wrap-up and the haul into one video as well. I've officially decided to start keeping track of my books this way in my reading journal -- I hope it will help me bring down my total of 96 books on my TBR!

I have to say sometimes I get bored by watching other booktubers wrap-ups or hauls but something about this balancing the books format makes it so much more engaging, I absolutely love it. You always inspire me to pick up something new. Lots of love from Israel ❤️

As a therapist, I Can confirm that I do not have my shit together 😂. I’m excited to hear you want to enter the field! It’s so fulfilling, even if you never use the qualification in a professional capacity. You’ll learn so much about yourself and humanity... bloody love my job 💛

I always enjoy your Balancing the Books videos! I started doing this game myself in July because I am physically out of room on my TBR shelves and because I always find myself getting excited about books, buying them, and then never reading them. I had to unhaul one book at the end of July, so not too bad of a start.

Two of my sisters have been using the blue light glasses so I have been thinking of getting some myself as well! Loving the edit with the balancing weight in this video. :) I am glad you liked Percy Jackson in the end. Sun is Sky sounds amazing and I am LOVING the cover. Maybe you should talk to someone sounds so interesting just to have a different perspective on therapy and taking it from the therapist's perspective. I am also quite fussy with my time travel despite my love of doctor who :P Such a fun age is high on my tbr! I reaaaaally need to read my dark vanessa as well. You had such a good reading month!

I love Balancing the Books so much! I started doing my own in 2019 and got from 160ish to about 100... I’m now at 60ish so I’m ambitiously hoping to get to zero this year but maybe should realistically change that goal to 20 😂 Fabulous idea though!!

So interesting what you said about the therapist book and the professional/ personal life differences. I can totally relate as someone who does quite a lot of talking therapy at work. You're right, people also don't realise you have your own stuff going on when you're helping them, they don't think about it. My dark Vanessa sounds fascinating. What a concept. I've got such a fun age on my tbr, looking forward to that v soon 🙂

I saw that comment! I don't agree with it though because I think a book that requires you to keep a close eye on details should make you care about them. It's not totally on the reader if they don't spend the time to analyze them because a good book would make you want to

I loved My Dark Vanessa. It is definitely a book that opens up the discussion. I was disappointed with Such A Fun Age. The writing was good, but I found myself wanting more from the character development. I think it could have been so much more. There is something in the story, that I can’t say as it’s a spoiler, that made it disappointing. Great social commentary and definitely made me think of my own experiences and how people act. 📚
@DrinkingByMyShelf4 жыл бұрын
Oh that's so interesting when I thought it was some of the best character writing I've ever read!
@anges_book_chatter4 жыл бұрын
Drinking By My Shelf I wanted one of the characters to be a good ally, but don’t want to spoil by saying who. Also I think the parents initial actions could have been explored more. In a way I wanted it to be longer 🤔
@DrinkingByMyShelf4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I reeeeally wanted one of the characters to be a good ally too but then I think that was the point, that I as a white reader kept wanting to see a 'good white person' and then had to have this realisation that ALL of us have bad motivations at times!

Btw, are you participating in the NEWT'S this month, or do you skip them because of the J K Rowling thing? Have a nice week ♡
