Hey guys! Loving the setup. I also have a high top troopy that I’m doing up and wondering how you mounted the awning through the fibreglass? And also what you did for your bed rails? Thanks legends
@Drinkteatravel Жыл бұрын
For the bed rails, they were already installed from britz (since it was an old britz Troopy). It looked like it was part of the fibreglass top itself though. For the awning we simply drilled through the fibreglass and used a big washer (actually used some perforated steel sheet from Bunnings) to widen the load area on the nut from the inside. Had zero issues with it holding up.

Nice one. You've done well on your upgrades. The beauty with the troopy, if it's looks after well, it retains its resale value extremely well. If you're not already doing it, a tip to prevent your plats and pot rattling , and sauce bottles clanking (once you get into the corrugated tracks you'll know about it), place tea towels in between them, and a thin cardboard dividers (from your pasta packets) for your sauces.

Cheers mate Good idea regarding the plates rattling. Will get a decent taste of the corrugation on the Oodnadatta track tomorrow And then we can see what we need to change for the gibb River road

Great job guys. I suspect you will be very happy in the Troopy. One comment would be put your chairs on the floor in the Troopy - last thing in and first thing out - otherwise the dusty roads and wind are not going to treat them nicely.

The covers on them seem to be very durable so hopefully they will hold up.

We built it ourselves. Used drawer slides and a light wood for the desk part cut to size.

Love what you have done with the space! One question from a fellow wine lover. Does the styrofoam squeak while going down the road?
@Drinkteatravel3 жыл бұрын
Nope not that we have heard. Maybe it's muffled from cupboard? We have even gone over some bad corrugation and didn't hear it

I struggle to sleep in mine with head towards the front. Feels too claustrophobic. It is a struggle getting in especially with 2 adults. Seems you have alot of power there with 200 ah. Was interested on how your awning and chairs were secured to fibreglass, and if it is strong enough. Love the fridge. Does it use lots of power? I have a 2007 high top with 2 seats in rear for kids that are quick release removable. Is a work in progress but getting there. From the Adelaide hills.
@Drinkteatravel3 жыл бұрын
Yeah we thought about maybe sleeping feet first but it’s not as easy to get up and in I feel. Head first makes it easy to slide in and out I feel. Regarding the awning and privacy shower bolted to fibreglass, the previous owner had a smaller one installed and we swapped it out for a larger. I did check the work to make sure it was solid. The way it was done is two holes into the fibreglass, and big steel or aluminium brackets on the inside. This disperses the pull out pressure significantly. Fridge uses same as any chest freezer or similar size since it’s a compressor fridge that runs on 12v. Uses 4amps an hour, cycles on 40-60% of time depending on temp. That’s cool you have additional seat, definitely a good feature. Our bench side seat at the back is engineered for 3 additional people. Previous owner did that.

Hi guys, looking to get me troopy and was lucky to find your channel. Just wondering what was the price of your troopy before innovation as I’m looking on the market and prices vary a lot I think many for sale posts are overpriced I see some adds posted for over half of the year. The thing is I want to buy for reasonable price so after I’m done with the around Australian trip and be able to resale for roughly the close amount I’ve purchased the van. Also curious where Oksana from as to me it is such a Slavic name and I hear zero Slavic accent ahah and I was born in Slavic county myself so just curios.
@DrinkteatravelАй бұрын
We originally bought the troop for 35k I think. But that was back in 2021 Oksana is originally from Ukraine Yeah sometimes you have to travel to a remote part of the country to get a good deal. Anything near the big cities will likely be expensive

Hi, What brand is your fridge. I tried looking up a 95L and it comes out about 3.3 cu ft. But one that size is a small dorm type fridge. With only one door. How much amps does it use? Thanks
@Drinkteatravel3 жыл бұрын
It uses around 4.5amps and cycles 40-60 percent on/off. Just looked up and it's actually a 90L glacio. Yeah it's small, but that's how van/camper fridges are unless you have a giant rig. Even our fridge in our sprinter is only 115L.

Hey how did you mount the 350 watts of flexible solar on the roof, and if it worked well and didnt have any problems what brand was it? Thanks, got a high top troopy, looking to do the same. Cheers
@Drinkteatravel3 жыл бұрын
Used 3M automotive tape. Held on great. Don't know if I would recommend the same eBay one we bought, if I had to go over again I'd just to the king's flexible ones since every are affordable and output seems to be accurate

So far we've managed just to find level spots In all but one spot. For that one we just used some rocks. We also have the recovery tracks we can use.
