On this day, I also stuck on that old khopoli highway where very steep incline at Ghat, my clutch was burned. Old highway is much harder than expressway, its around 10km uphill. So I don’t think it’s so easy without half clutch as you explained.

Frequent full release and suppress of break pedal will create a lot of pressure in the break booster which in turn will harden the pedal to operate to its optimum level. Thus, resulting in poor break performance.

Durability of brake booster is wayyyyyy more than clutch same as engine oil vs engine do you chage brake booster every 60k kms ?

In crawling traffic to save clutch I put the car in 1st or 2nd gear (depending on what speed the jam is crawling) and the car moves at a minimum speed without acceleration. This way my car is crawling with an engaged clutch at clutch speed.

I have been in this situation once on same spot. Not much one can do. Half clutch and break helped for sometime but due to bumper to bumper traffic it practically not possible.

We just have to put the car in N mode when there is heavy traffic and go back to D when you want to crawl again. This saves everything

Good advice however when you are stuck in a traffic jam in an incline you are forced to use the accelerator, brake and frequent clutch as the creep function won't work all the time or due to inclination the creep will not be enough to move forward. In some cars there is no creep. All in all good information . I have travelled a lot on the Mumbai Pune Expressway, can understand what happened with those people and their cars. Good video though.

There are different types of automatics and each have their own characteristics. Therefore one solution wont apply for all the automatics.Also when you are going up hill and there is a traffic jam or slow moving traffic one can hardly do anything to stop overheating of the car s engine.

I landed into a same situation in Mumbai Pune expressway and there is not much we can do when bumper to bumper traffic is there. If you don't accelerate or keep half clutch, it starts to slide down. Very difficult to drive.

The handbrake technique is the best approach in such situations.

If you want to save fuel then shut off the car and if you want to keep running car put the car in neutral and pull the hand brake and then put the car in neutral

For an automatic transmission, the way of car park first you should change your gear in N mode then pull the handbrake then change the gear into P now stop the ignition.

These are misconceptions about gearbox. According to my experience with Automatic gearbox, I just followed instructions given by manufacturer to keep car in D mode and never had clutch plate issue. Please do not spread wrong information. Please get my verified by car manufacturers. 😊

Nice information. I also have nexon amt some ppl suggesting to buy gold amc or p2p as brake and clutch wear is more in amt is it worth buying as max it will run 6k km per year. Also i am not getting more than 20 mileage on highway even if driving at 8-90 constatntly with sommetimes cruise any tips for that
