The BAC Mono is a carbon-bodied piece of sculpture with the innards of a Formula 3 car: 540kg, 280hp. The handling is astonishing, in the wet.

I was just watching a video on another youtube channel dealing with cars.... and I thought to myself, why isnt this channel more like Drive? This channel has all I could really want in my car news and more. factory tours, real drivers doing what they do best, and spectacular production values directed by the most talented crew i have seen this side of Topgear. No higher praise!!! Snagging chris harris was the best thing you could do.PLEASE HAVE A FERRARI TOUR LIKE YOU HAVE WITH THE PAGANI ONE!.

I think this car would be so much cooler if it had a fighter style cot pit with a see through plastic dome to protect you from the elements, it could be hinged at the back above where your head sits.
@petermuller16110 жыл бұрын
The only downside to that would be losing the open cockpit.
@RogueVigilante10 жыл бұрын
would add more weight and you wouldnt want to drift it around like that on public roads would hit an oil patch if in the wet;) and if not in the wet I see no other reason to have a cockpit unless the noise bothers you although wouldnt it be nice to have a passenger or two to be able to scare in that sense the mclaren f1 is king for being able to scare 2x people sad well problably never drive one of these cars;(

This car is immense!, its the best looking trackday car of them all, and amongst the best looking street cars ever made. (IMO) Fantastic. certainly a collectors car. And its design is yet another thats defining the look of future vehicles. BAC MONO,Ariel atom,Crossbow,Aventador all have that same F22 raptor design language. but this one really sets the tone for the perfect drivers car. Great job Chris, unfortunately the UK has bad weather.

Before I talk crap about testing cars in the rain. Question, what makes you have to do a test drive in the rain? your budget? your schedule? The cars shedule? I would think the owner of the car would rather a dry test. Another good Chris Harris video though, i just wish it was in the dry

If slip angle is measured by the amount the tire is sliding as opposed to rolling forward, and if slip angle is greater in the rear then the front, then the rear will be sliding out more then the front tire. And if oversteer is the rear sliding out more then the front. Then oversteer is a byproduct of slip angle, yes?
@interphase11 жыл бұрын
Cracking video, would love to see a followup on dry roads. Could we please lose the teletype-style subtitles though? Having them in the border is great, but the spindly font and constantly shifting lines are a pain and take too long to scan over a traditional 'one line at a time' style.

Good review. Quite happy to hear Ford - Cosworth engine sound :) I like the approach of Chris's reviews. If i may, i think it would be quite interesting to do a test of bit tuned car vs stock one - on a track. So viewers can see if the spent money on they're upgrades is really making sense or if you do something that wasn't done before: lets say you test a Fiesta ST mountune (190bhp) or the MR200 Fiesta ST against a Clio 200 cup. Would be very interesting to see. Keep up the good work!

I think you guys might be arguing over slip angle. In a sense the fastest way around a track requires sliding, or slip angle if you will. 5-6 percent slip angle is about average for most cars. F1 cars will slide evenly if they got the balance right, big fat tank slappers upsets balance by having way to little rear grip and the power is being put down inefficiently. So in a way webbyman is right.
@juicyjuice74311 жыл бұрын

Can you point out where I defined oversteer?. I just said it's a byproduct of slip angle, and as you stated "oversteer IS when your SLIP ANGLE is increasing", so can you have oversteer without slip angle? If yes, then how so? You should also add is "increasing more then the front". But for the most part I agree. Yes when the rear slip angle increases more then the front, you get oversteer.
@Lolzilol12311 жыл бұрын
Yes, oversteer is only possible with slip, but I don't get why you felt you had to point that out when my statement was that slip angle isn't the same as oversteer. You need water to boil an egg but that doesn't mean that the words 'water' and 'egg' mean the same thing, does it?

No, it really shouldn't. The all wheel drive keeps the car better in the corner when going sideways because it fights the inertia and makes the car able to go faster even without real traction. The tracks are very different too, you can't really compare it like this.
@LucasJonasch9811 жыл бұрын
at 0:03 you can just see through the suspension, thats cool.
@DmanHein9512 жыл бұрын
how does the BAC Mono compare to the Caparo T1 from a few years ago; cause they both have very similar targets in the way they deliver speed.
@alexpeak1612 жыл бұрын
Fair enough I get your point on entertainment. I understand that perspective but I stick to my own opinions
@c0c0asauce12 жыл бұрын
This car doesn't have a transversely mounted engine, so a K20 is out. F20C would be closer. They probably chose the Duratec because its a cheaper engine to start with and its aftermarket is huge, especially in Europe where the Honda movement isn't as strong as the US. The Duratec with ITBs and a more aggressive cam should be able to push 320-340. Flat 4 sucks Naturally aspirated. I would have used the engine from the ZX14-R. Don't really need reverse on something the wind can push. My opinion.
