Found out same driving Kenworth winch trucks moving drilling rigs, both mud and flour fine dust that turns grease into tiny little balls that fall out of driveline can get you broke. We were greasing our driveline every 3 to 4 days to avoid those problems when working full time in those conditions. It helps push grit out of working parts too. Great video, cool 😎 classics!

A tip for grease with uni's and anything else that gets exposed to mud and lots of dust is change over a calcium based grease. It handles being exposed to crap much better than lithium based greases.

Thanks mate, really appreciate that one. I'll get onto it.

Thats kinda funny. About 4 years ago in that first rock slab just past that rock garden i was with 3 blokes (2 Jimnys, my patrol and a land rover) and the land rover blew its rear centre there. Was a 4 maybe 5 hour winch nut only 1 Jimny had a winch hahahaha

And this is why i am over bog whole tracks i was forever replacing parts on my 80 series because of the mud. That's why i built my dual cab for Touring and sold the 80 series.

Yep, you play in the mud, you pay in the mud. Can't tell me the off-set drive-line did not factor in accelerated wear on uni-caps. Ditch the Tojo transfer and go nissan to nissan.
@DesignedandBuilt2 ай бұрын
Pay to play! Yeah its interesting, the uni definitely wasn't worn before the trip. I felt it myself, it went from zero to catastrophic failure so I figure it must be a grease issue?

You don't need to put Toyota parts in a Patrol to make it reliable.

@@beartiger1553 Yeh i love my GU coily ute Td42ti, denco & 16 & 18G turbo’s since i bought it new in 04 & never been let down. She’s only got 410k’s now but when it’s time the only other engine i would ever consider chuck’n in my ute would be the Toyota 1hdt-fte. Grouse engines & they haul ass. 6bt’s, Barra’s, M57, Ls yeh there ok. But i much more prefer the old tech Japanese 4.2ltr turbos. 6bt’s go hard & leave me in the dust but Td’s & Fte’s go plenty hard enough for me & Always get ya home safely.
@DieselAddiction2 ай бұрын
@@beartiger1553 They only put them in a Patrol because Toyotas can't handle the power when modified. I build engines for a living and when a TD42 is done properly it is way more reliable, the biggest problem is the cowboys who over tune them.

@ I was being a smart $$$ when I wrote 1hdfte nothing wrong with a td united diesel out of Perth have solutions to keep them cool 6bt good engine but I like the 6.7 cr every one thinks there hard to wire when in fact can start them with 4 wires my gu coil cab ute is getting 6.7 4l80e maybe 48 re atlas Dana 60 front 14 bolt rear 4 link rear 3 link front (why a 6.7 cr can’t make big power with a p pump with out rolling Cole
