Driver Information Center (D.I.C.) Install for Silverado / Sierra

Install of driver information center in my 2009 Silverado. This will work with 2007-2013 Silverado / Sierra. You can also add this to Tahoe and Yukon with a different trim part. This adds several features that you would not have otherwise. I purchased a police Tahoe a few years ago and added this. Great Mod for a decent price.

Dude, I've had a theory that the harness is just laying behind the panel for years. I asked the guys at the Chevy dealer if it's possible to just add the switch panel and they said absolutely not. I've never gotten around to pulling the panel to check to see if the wiring was there. 6 years later I had a random thought to Google it and here you are making dreams a reality. Switch out the light control to add foglights, saw the dummy plug and knew it was for another accessory and it dawned on me that it might be for a DIC and your video confirmed that fact..thanx

Wow. So excited. I just bought an 08 silverado and was trying to figure out why the remote start button doesn't start the vehicle. Then I find that my interior lights don't come on with the door. So I started reading and read about dic. THEN I find your awesome channel and am headed to the junkyard for the dic buttons! Hopefully I'll figure out the other stuff soon.( probably obtain a tech 2 maybe?) But boy I want the tire pressure options as the light came on. Can't wait to watch all your silverado videos. Just did this and the Steering wheel controls upgrade. $40 in used parts for everything and added a bunch of value and convenience to my Truck. So nice to have the tire pressures. But Damn I was hoping the Bluetooth would have worked after the install. I can store numbers via voice commands but no Bluetooth.

i did this with my 2011 silverado WT with the 4.8L and it added most of what you showed on here, and the trim piece even had the cut out marked in on the back of the trim with the retaining clips. i recently got a 2012 silverado WT (with the 5.3L this time). anxiously waiting for the new DIC to show up so i can hit it again!

Great video. I just checked my WT and it has the connection. I ordered one on Amazon for $50. I just added a cabin air filter to a 2012. But like you I wanted all this information and now I will hopefully get it. Thank you!

man i have a 2010hd too, i knew the wires were back there as a dummy plug and i always wondered if i could add the buttons... i watched this video and was a little concerned caues our trucks dont have the same options as in the video before the upgrade.. im so glad you posted a comment. im ordering the pieces now!! Great video. I did this a few years back and one of the things this WILL NOT do is disable the automatic door locking. That is one feature I really wanted for dropping guys off at jobsites or hunting spots. I had to pay the chevy dealer $70 to keep the doors from locking at speed or out of park.

I have followed your videos and done a few things on my 2007 GMC Sierra new body style such as the DIC and the steering wheel radio control. I have a question, I am wanting to install the outside rearview mirrors with the turn signals built in. would the wiring be there for this?

Not sure how I came across this “mod” but I have a barebones 07 nnbs reg cab short bed (no AC..only heat controls) so I ran outside to look behind the bezel lo and behold the plug is there…the only features I currently have are miles, trip, Trans temp and oil life %

My 2011 only has the two smaller gauges in the cluster, not the four. Only cruise on the lift side of the steering wheel. Nothing on the right. Will this work for me.. 2011 gmc Sierra with 4.8.

its on the right side of the steering wheel. Left side of center hvac vents. The switch is the same part number but the housing is not.

TWA Motorsports So after doing some research last night i figured out that my truck (2012 Sierra SLE All Terrain Edition) only offered the DIC in the slt and not my truck. I’m going to pop the trim bezel off and see if the plug is even there. Looks like I’ll either have to cut the hole myself or replace the trim bezel with one for the slt/ltz Tahoe trim. Unless you know of a kit for it that i haven’t been able to locate yet.

I pulled the bezel off of my 2007 Silverado but am not finding that particular wiring harness that would plug into the DIC switch. Was that harness only available on late model 2007 Silverados and later, as I believe I have the 1500 classic LT body?

@@TWAMotorsports I actually found the harness. It was connected to a dummy retaining clip on the original bezel, which I thought was the light switch at first. I just ordered the new bezel with DIC controls from Amazon for $72 which I'll be installing this weekend.
