By far one of the greatest instructional lessons EVER! 5:38 - 6:10 Just excellent instruction. 6:48 is the key move from transition into the downswing. If people, myself included, can understand that the chest moves in synchronization with hips (while maintaining X-factor of course) and the arms do not swing independent of this hip/chest relationship, but instead are just along for the ride. Later comes the timing to downcock the wrists. The feel and ideal bio-mechanics in this type of swing is we are NOT swinging the arms until a split second before impact or even post impact, but instead the wrists downcock all that stored energy into the ball. Now in the real swing, it may actually be a little different, but that's feel we want. RH - Best teaching Pro on the planet!

Please don’t speak about bio-mechanic in context from this swing tips. There is basics of bio- mechanic ignored. X factor is the biggest compensation in golf who allows us use upper body force for acceleration.

I’ve been struggling with getting stuck for a while, had semi success with other videos (most found on this channel) but this was the video that broke through for me.

Excellent video, thanks for explaining the chest v arm movement to start downswing. I had a lightbulb moment

This is another great video Russell. It's so relevant to me right now during my process of changing my swing. Thanks again.

I think she made an incredible change in her swing. And the changes she is making are great pieces of advice and are downswing movements that I also need to perfect.

Russell, I love these comprehensive videos you and your wife have put together. They put all the pieces together. I've watched a million videos but I could never quite understand the sequence till now. Your pretty wife has made tremendous progress. Keep up the great work.

You're a good communicator, Russell. Curious, I was ready for her to take some practice swings, a few, a couple, one?? Seriously, did I miss the "No-Practice-Swing" signage? Was that instruction held anywhere in the vicinity of Muirfield? Must every swing be about hitting the ball?!! HA! All in good fun, Russell. Really enjoyed your video.

Is the idea on the rotation back to the target to try and get you left shoulder (as a righty) away from the chin, then pivot the body? Sorta like regaining the width between the chin and the lead shoulder that was there at address?

A lot of info for me to digest, evidently I’m not using my shoulder enough and dropping arms too soon.

For me Lynns lowerbody was working well at the start of the video but she was over turning her upperbody which is exaggerated because she is so flexible.Maybe in the past she has been told to get her left/lead shoulder behind the ball.I would suggest she hold that back and rely on her lowerbody to get behind the ball and then she is in position to explode the other way as in throwing a frisbee as you describe which she is struggling to do as she is having to put her effort into counter acting her excessive lead shoulder movement on the backswing.

Great video Russell. I am having trouble creating angle away from the lead hip without my head moving away from the target. Any suggestions?

It’s ok for your head to move

My problem is becoming unhinged too early and then I hit the ground behind the ball and also do the chicken. At the end of 18 holes my traps are sore from shrugging so much. I don't know why it is so hard to get out of that habit.

You need more rotation of the body in the golf swing
@GolfTechie794 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this Russell. I am starting to understand the transition move more - rotating into the left heel whilst staying in posture and delaying the drop of the arms until last parallel to allow the left shoulder to direct the swing towards target. One question though - does a straight lateral shift of the whole body from the top of the backswing to the left side, THEN full rotation to target achieve the same thing? Or is that old school methodology?
@bengreen12624 жыл бұрын
Learned Golfer That does sound a bit old school ~ but I would say you should feel 50/50 at left arm parallel on the weight distribution because with driver especially any sliding would cause problems on strike/squaring face/ early hip extension / general inconsistency - good golf 2020 (ex flipper )

There’s hybrids in a golf swing and not one or other completely. Many golfers lack rotation which is why I would talk more about this than anything else
@knightfamily81244 жыл бұрын
I am a bit confused...I have seen other videos where they talk about not having your head move back off the ball...but looking here it appears that in your backswing the head is moving significantly back...I don't understand what the correct move should be
@russellheritagegolf4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t worry too much about this area. I’m fine for the head to move a little in the backswing 👍
@curttundra3 жыл бұрын
If you have her think about keeping her left bicep attached to her chest throughout the entire swing.
