I do think you are the number 1 golf coach in the world. Once again a fantastic mix of a gentle positioning of the problem, typical things you see, then the guiding principles / the framework locked into the core Hogan style shaft plane line. Clear understandable precise descriptions in meaningful sentences / with excellent drills and context / rationale. It simply doesn’t get any better. Really like the description of the golfer who lifts the club up high but doesn’t have enough rotation so lacks hand depth. This then promoting / risking an out to in swing path. Then the great graphics showing the deep hand position at the top with a free and unrestricted turn. Then the great old nugget which I never get tired of seeing you repeat the hands moving down and outwards allowing the club head to scrape down along the barn door / rear wall behind you. Which in turn moves the club back down onto the Hogan extended shaft plane line. As you move the alignment stick down the wall to where your hands are approaching waste height I do love the way you recommend retaining the trail wrist in earlier videos. But this new element of allowing the left wrist to un-cock / release gives new insight. I know you have previously warmed against golfers trying to hold onto the wrong angles, this adds further insight to these original videos / messages. The interesting aspect is you moving away from the traditional approach to shallowing the club by emphasising the trail arm supination / rotating the forearms in the early stages of the downswing. Whereas I appreciate this further opens the club face, bette played then use this as a power source when the supinate the lead forearm through impact and beyond in the release phase. It is little wonder you have over 116k views for this excellent & highly relevant topic. Myles

This is by far the best video I've ever watched... ever. I can't express how much I needed to watch this for my driver swing. That drill with the stick on the wall is absolutely gold. Thank you so much.

This has changed my whole game Shot 75 76 this weekend Trouble club was driver Not any more I’ve found as well tuck a score card under your left arm pit Do not let the card drop It keeps you on a perfect line for hitting on the inside Thanks again Thanks again

The visual of what happens with driver when you just push the arms down was really helpful. I’m pretty sure I am doing that (really need video) which, as you show, makes it impossible to achieve the desired result.

Good tips chris, especially positioning driver 2-3 inches behind ball at address has helped me enormously. Another tip that works for me is where i focus on the ball, driver i focus on a spot back of ball, irons i focus on front of ball or even 1-2 inches of the ground ahead of ball, takes getting used to but both of these tips helps me deliver the low point needed. Keep up the good work !

I am very similar, driver,3w & 5w i pick a spot a ball width behind & stare at that spot. My irons it's actually a club head width infront

One of your best yet Chris!! Very relatable and relatively easy to quickly put into application, for both irons and driver. Particularly for someone who's had a gnawing over the top component. Really appreciate all you do!

Nice one, Chris - been hitting Driver awful Irons not bad. Had lesson today, my grip had got a bit weak so strengthened Grip and my pro’ got me doing exactly the drill you’re showing here ! Also saying turn right pocket behind you on backswing. Made half decent fist of it but going to need lot of practice as totally new movement Cheers Ken 👍

This was really great for me!! On video I went from a steep shaft to something that looks much better. I did start hitting hooks though until I corrected to put some width on my follow through and not folding the left arm and then I was hitting consistent draws that started right and came left. Only downside is I lost maybe 15ft of distance on an 8 iron so I hope that comes back with more practice.
@williammahon520 Жыл бұрын
My instructor had me practice hooking the ball. Wanted me to be able to do it consistently with every club. Once I was able to achieve that, he had me adjust just a bit and I was hitting pure, straight shots in about 20 minutes. Argument being that the hook is MUCH easier to correct once your swing is in alignment. So do not fear the draw or hook. Once that was consistent then he had me start whipping the club during my downswing. Trust me when I say, your distance will come back with a vengeance. You will be amazed.

This is a good one. Is it normal when trying to get the grip above my heels that my left arm feels much more across my chest?
@joeidaho59387 ай бұрын
One of my perennial swing thoughts with the driver. Slow on the backswing....and make sure I come down on the inside....just like every other club. When I do that, it's almost always a nice straight long shot. If I don't swing on the inside, it not only pulls the ball. It also keeps the club shallow and not swinging upwards much....and results in either a worm burner...or something that just does not get any real loft.

@ChrisRyanGolf, I went out and played a round today. My short game and irons is great, but my driver and woods send me out of bounds or at least in trouble nearly every time. Should I just leave them out of the bag? I'm seriously ready to give up golf 😢

Issue I have chris is that I can do the back swing, can do the downswing but I cant get the clubface square at impact. It stays open and go high right. I assume I am turning my upper body too early?
@digitalshapes950113 күн бұрын
Check your delivery position to make sure your club face is slightly face down. If you have too much of a cupped lead wrist it means your club face is open and is not giving you enough time to rotate your lead forearm (supinate) to square this off by impact. This can also because you early extend and or bumping / poor hip movement which moves the lead shoulder up earlier and dips the trail shoulder. Chris has done some excellent videos on how the hand path should “Exit Left” placing the emphasis on the handle end of the golf club. Good Luck Myles

So with the iron needing a lateral movement does that mean the drivers doesn’t
