Not true. I had a warrant for failure to appear some years ago. I didn't know I had it, didn't even know they wanted me to go to court because they sent the summons to an old address. As soon as I found out I went to my local courthouse and got it straightened out no issues. So you can have a warrant and not know about it, it's probably a bit rare, but it does happen.

Poor SOPs. Here in Australia: 1. Keys taken by the officer. 2. Driver taken to the rear seat of the patrol car. Passengers sit at the roadside. 3. Checks confirmed. Tickets issued. 4. The fact that the front passenger side window was replaced by a sheet of plastic flapping in the breeze and obstructing the driver’s vision should be more than enough to justify a traffic stop. Then, after the plate reader alerts to no insurance it should be expected that the Trooper would need to chat with the driver even if to only give a warning and wish him a good day. It is 100% legit to pull the guy over. The driver then turns a simple traffic stop into a goat roping by providing someone else’s driver’s license and taking off running like a prison escape. All the hoopla over transposing numbers on a license plate has nothing to do with anything other than slowing down the confirmation of plate information. It’s hilarious how many wannabe lawyers are practicing their summation before the court to get the charges thrown out. I’d like to see how the judge views the Algonquin J. Calhoun defense performance.😂
