the randomness of the weight is simulating what trees do IRL, some trees are heavier than others, it really depends on it's health and conditions. I work construction and i've held 2x4's of the same length and they both weigh different, it really depends on the density of the wood.

There is a difference in the last part of the tree. If your last cut is over4 (I believe) meters it stays, but if it is under it totally disappears,

I wish there was a feature with the spray paint where you could mark out a certain length, for example 6 meters, and then cut on that line so that you wouldnt need a processor.

A tree is a tree, but not every tree is identical to other trees. This means that a tree is sometimes lighter and sometimes heavier. You should have done the test with a single tree. Cut down, save the game, cut the tree into 6 meters and sell, note the result, load the savegame, cut into 8 meters and sell, etc.

This is just realistic. Every tree is different because it's a living being. Every tree has a different amount of moisture in it and that will make up a few hundred kgs per tree. Also small differences in growth also add up over the full length of the tree. Some trees also have been partially eaten by bugs on the inside, which makes them lighter than other.

My suggestion is that the thickness of ur saw bar would waste so much tree?!? And maybe the more cuts ur lossen way more liters of wood to waste. Just a thought lol

Ya see, that tree jumped out in front of the tractor when I was maneuvering to load up the smaller length logs. You should have seen what one of the other trees did to the harvester...

try 9 9 9 and 6m lengths XD. there's some mathematical volume goofyness going on AND you can also end up with false diameters or sometimes cuts carrying false dimensions.. cutting the very very tip off the end first will produce a flat end which helps the math be correct.

If you still have this setup, see what value you can get from chipping an entire tree as compared to selling it as logs.

this would all depend on how high the price is for selling wood chips and what time of the year . winter is usualy the best time to sell woodchips unless theres a high demand some were for it . and if you sell to much your gonna get a price drop also.

@@mrbgam1ng809 I understand all of this, but if you're doing a comparison of log length at comparable selling prices (say, 80% of maximum) and you sell the chips from an entire tree at a similar price point, what kind of loss could you expect? Logging is involving and costly but chipping is relatively cheap and fast. Granted, you can use lumber to make other products, but wood chips can be a fast way of making decent capital to buy more expensive equipment later on.

I wonder if you tried the same tests but used the exact same tree. Cut the tree, see what it gives you then quit the game, load and cut it again.

With randomness applied, he'd have to do the same test with multiple trees as well to get the true "best" if there is one. From the numbers shown, I'm not convinced there is one.
