A perfect track for a festival of steam. 3801, R766, a 60 class Garratt shuttles on standard gauge. Throw in a few Alco's (not the ones out of the Highland Club) . Shuttle to Talbot to coincide with the street market with broad gauge R classes, k class and D3 shuttle to Dunolly (only a bakery). What if only that 3 cylinder giant NSWGR 57 or Heavy Harry was brought back to life. No regular passenger services to delay and just the 'friuty' from Mildura or put the Beyer Garratt on it between Maryborough and Arrarat!??? Poor Maryborough it needs something to look forward to instead of a daily highlight outing to McDonalds. Surely if the Castlemaine to Maryborough Railtrail Group just get a grant of over half a million dollars for feasibility and consultancy to remove rails maybe 1/2 million dollars to run on rails a heritage workshop and festival !?

I enjoy your videos mate, i was just wondering, a previous video before your arrived at Ararat the kilometre count was going up, now after leaving there the count is going down, is it like a big loop line back to Melbourne?

@@trevorblack8839 the line from Ararat to Maryborough is counted as going back towards Melbourne, a left over from when it was broad gauge. 👍😀
