The "wistful" or bittersweet thing about these wonderful pics, is knowing that all these proud drivers and vehicles are long gone now. But we have the pics to remember them by.

At the 33 seconds mark, the Sam Tanksly truck reminded me of an add they had around 1983, Join Sam Tanksly, and be apart of the Big Pete Fleet.

I remember Tanksley trucks loading cantaloupe at Azhderian's shed in Los Banos Ca back in the 70's. My Dad owned a grain, seed and trucking company adjacent to Azhderian's and all the long liners would come and scale out on our scales. Tanksley drivers were the true long liners of the day. This is where I met Mr. Gene Smith, (El Turbo) and got to ride around the block to scale out. A true prince of a man! These men, and my Dad's driver's instilled a passion in me for driving that I still carry today. Been driving for 41+ years now. 28 of those years have been spent in N. Idaho, where I still drive and reside.

@@Drivapete Sir, that's a great story. I drove for 44 years with all kinds of equipment. Glad you still enjoy it. The last 2 years I worked were the worst for me. I ran loads from Northwest Arkansas to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area twice a week. I had to deal with truck brokers that didn't have a clue what they were doing. Send drivers to the wrong place, give pickup numbers that were bad. I was glad to get away from it. Retired in January 2022. Stay safe and have a great day.
