Prost stayed 15 years at number 1 position and 15 more years at number 2, with 16 races seasons in the 80s, compared to today's 21 races seasons...It's a testimony to his greatness. The fact that Barrichello, Coulthard or Bottas are higher than Piquet or Mansell shows the bias...It should be proportionate to the number of grand prix raced by the pilot.

@@georgesingh5714 Yes. The slow professor needed lots of help from Ballestre and did get it. The fuel limitation rule was the biggest factor that slowed the fastest drivers down to Prosts level. And for all doubters: Ballestre later admitted it that he did everything to make his fellow countrymen win.

You have to appreciate Prost, that's pretty incredible for that period in time. Also it's interesting seeing Schumacher between Vettel and Hamilton. It's like Vettel got to every great there was except from one, whereas Hamilton did get that final great thing, that being beating Schumachers records. That chart perfectly demonstrates that. Perhaps in a way, because he idolised him so much, perhaps that was why Seb never managed it. Perhaps he wasn't driven by it like Hamilton is, even though Hamilton says he doesn't think about the stats lol. He lying.

Fangio had only 51 starts, but he did race many years before F1 started. So I wonder: What would these graphics look like if you take the world champion with the least ammount of entries (say for example 50) and then only use each driver's last 50 races for this graphic? The two champions with the least starts were Farina (33) and Ascari (32) followed by Hawthorn, (45), Phill Hill (49) and Fangio (51). Most world champions had between 100 and 200 starts a handful had more than 300 - including schumacher, Hamilton, Vettel, Raikkonen a handful had between 50 and 100 - including Rindt, Hunt, Clark, alonso had most starts (401) I've checked last 30 races of top 5 and it turned out very bad for Schumi, Hamilton, and Vettel..... So maybe the best consecutive 30 races of each driver? most of them retired/passed during/just after their peak (except a few, such as Schumacher, although in fairness, he retired in 2006 and then came back in 2010 to help a new team.)

The parameter used leaves all of the early guys out based upon races per season, and that skews this list immensely. You also are comparing drivers in eras where safety was not highly developed and death was a significant factor as opposed to now as it's really really rare. Cutting many drivers down in their prime. A better criteria would be percentage of their races won. How dominate were they when they raced. That would make it 1-Fangio(47.06%), 2-Ascari(40.63%), 3-Hami (35.76%-although if he doesn't win this yr he will drop 1 spot), 4-Clark(34.72%), 5-Schumacher(29.64%

well in case you havent followed F1 and are too lazy too Google it, by end of 2024 Lewis has incresed his podium total to 202 and thus still leads this statistic clearly. Max has risen to 4th with 112 podiums, so he has almost doubled the amount of podiums he had before 2022 season. Alonso managed to get few more podiums with Aston Martin in 2023 and is on shared 5th position with Prost (106 podiums for each driver). Charles Leclerc is most likely the next driver to get to top 15, he currently has 43 podiums and if Mclaren manages to stay on top where they returned this year, then Lando Norris (with 26 podiums at the moment) is likely to get there as well.
