Absolutely amazing overview of 2.0! Thanks for the info on which 1.0 books we should keep and what we can get rid of. I love the new Reaction rules because giving your opponent the opportunity to respond to your action make the game more strategic.

Why rid of some of the books ?? ALL the narrative books and tomes are to be kept for all the quests, campaigns and artifacts inside, even the old core rule book and even the alliances book for the same reasons. With all the FREE pdf stuff (no need to buy compendium) you can play all the old books with new 2.0 rules, the few 2.0 slight updates you can find in any video on youtube or forums (no need to buy new core rules book at all, 98% is the same) and basically all the NEW SEASON boxsets are completely skippable (about 920 USD !!), super happy about this !

The only books that are irrelevant for the new edition are the old compendium books. I actually say it's worth keeping the narrative books for settings. I don't know why I would keep two copies of the core books, with the first edition rules being out of date though. My shelf space is limited, so I get rid of stuff without any nostalgia pretty easily.
@DANNYtheBOY112 жыл бұрын
@@DriveThruReview Also the old compendium books and the old core book have plenty of campaigns, quests, artificats, traits, victory, terrain, twist tables, ect, to play with....why all of them are irrelevant ? Tons of stuff, ages of gameplay in these 4+1 books.

A really great overview of the version. I don't play Warcry but it's my speed of game I think. I just can't swing that price tag. I see that Deadzone 3.0 box behind you though and that's the review I'm looking forward to now.

Warcry sounds interesting but I'm always wondering why I don't just permanently switch to One Page Rules for skirmish games.

With GW just this week releasing free PDFs of fighter profiles for all alliances, I'm with the others noticing the lack of Bladeborn fighters in those PDFs (Bladeborn fighters - Warhammer Underworlds warbands, previously found in Tome of Champions 2021, i.e; the Sylvaneth, 'Skaeth's Wild Hunt'). Would you be able to say if those Bladeborn fighters are in the compendium? Thanks :)

Do you think the new campaign system can be applied to all the phantastic old terrain with its specific rules? It would be a real bummer if the old terrain could only be used in plain skirmish (or with the old rules) from this point on.
@DriveThruReview2 жыл бұрын
Oh ya. No question you can use all those old terrain rules in games with the new campaign system.

I like Warcry and Killteam, but the extreme churn of new editions encouraged me to get rid of both. If you want to stay up to date (and I assume most people do), you'd have to play both games A TON to get your return on investment. I mean, from a miniatures gamer's perspective, a new edition of either WC or KT is right around the corner AT ALL TIMES. That's insane. You either get on board early or you might as well wait for the next edition (or the one after that, if you have a backlog of other games to play).
@DriveThruReview2 жыл бұрын
I don't think you have to spend that much though. If you are buying everything... 100% that's too much to keep up with. But, most people buy a couple of warbands and book or two.
@charnel_channel2 жыл бұрын
@@DriveThruReview Technically a couple of books every 2 years is not a big deal, if you use them enough. The problem for me was that WC and KT were my "side games", so I could go for months without playing either. This meant that I never got to play with some of the content and my shelves were getting swamped by obsolete rulebooks. If I got into KT/WC 2.0, I would feel pressed to play more often that I want to.
@DriveThruReview2 жыл бұрын
@@charnel_channel I got you. I will say, that I make better use out of these models and stuff since picking up mini-agnostic games like Stargrave, Frostgrave, etc.. So even if I'm not playing Warcry proper, I can still use a bunch of the models sporadically. It definitely makes the pill go down easier :)
@fredriksvard26032 жыл бұрын
Too convoluted. A light/dad version of the big games, and there are still long articles ablut how to get started with endless books, sets, cards and so on. I still don't know what an actual complete set looks like or how to buy it. Give me one box and make that box last. This isn't pc gamlng where it makes sense to patch things every other week. Is there a skirmish game that lets two friends buy a box with everyhing in it, and that doesn't become obsolete in a few months?
@DriveThruReview2 жыл бұрын
Nothing has been mad obsolete with this release. A couple of books POSSIBLY are obsolete with the new edition, but those have been out for well over a year now. Any models or terrain or quest/narrative books etc... are still playable 100%.
@fredriksvard26032 жыл бұрын
@@DriveThruReview yeah i'm not even going to try, i'm ok with a maze of stuff when it's w40k and similar. I don't want to spend an afternoon trying to figure out what various products I need to play a casual game. I get that this business model with things constantly changing works but I'll pass. They don't make things better with their marketing either, it's absolutely hopeless trying to figure out how different products within a game work together on the official website.
@V081WLBlue Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Load of bollocks the way GW keeps 'updating' their games, they are a bunch of crooks, people should not buy their shit, oh and Joel, a book that has been out for 'almost a year' should not be obsolete FFS!!!!!
@SootyWebster2 жыл бұрын
You may want to post an addendum vid to this one. the compendium release has been seriously delayed (you may have broken embargo there 😜) so they are releasing the new updated versions of the four tomes of order, etc. online as pdfs for free now currently all of order warbands are free so you can use all those aos and underworlds minis the rest will be released over the next few days/weeks. sadly the rule book might also be caught in that delay, as they are talking about releasing that as a free pdf too. which is great but bad if they don't because that'll mean the only place you can get the rulebook is the expensive box set.
@DriveThruReview2 жыл бұрын
No embargo was broken. We could talk about Order factions which I barely mentioned as of today.
