80's "tuning" was mainly sticking plastic bits onto cars, rather than improving any performance! before ecu maps and aftermarket turbos became a thing really.

Increasing cc was popular, mingling with injection system, electronic or carburators, exausts, intake improvements, suspension improvementa, chassis improvement wasn't as fancy as nowdays but roll cages were present, spoilers so so, engine swaps also.

Turbo injection was a game-changer and that's what it has all revolved around really in terms of people adding power to non-supercar cars that cost lest money. and ancillaries to make the car able for the power increase.

15:46 The roof liner sagging is a very common issue with cars of that age. It is fabric glued to a layer of foam, which deteriorates over time. It doesn't matter if you drive it or not, the foam will just fail at some point. It is a pretty straightforward fix, although time consuming. For common cars like a Golf 1/2/3 you can get direct replacements because it happens that often.

I remember spotting an identical Integrale in a local car park in 1990. Sod Cosworth's. This was the holy grail as far as I was concerned. 33 years on and they still look amazing. I agree with Mike and Ben rwgarding those glorious alloys too. Find another 80's car that has aged as well as an Integrale.

Yugo can't be a daily nowdays trust me, tried it like 2 decades ago. With roll cage and more advanced engine and transmission (fore turbo family suits it), well with more advanced everything it's like a swift small animal, not most agile one, not the fastest one but sort of better then old modified minis by noticeable margin. Still even of added a/c really hard to use it as a daily.

It's funny how 'humble' the cars are that racing drivers use to potter around. I seem to remember Michael Schumacher saying he had a Fiat Croma and Damon Hill saying he had an Audi A3. Makes perfect sense of course but I would have expected things more like, say, a BMW M3 or Subaru Impreza or Mitsubishi Evo as they are practical but great to drive. Just my two pennies.

I cannot find an ounce of passion for that Rover. It's the automotive equivalent of dry bread. There's nothing to admire. It's not like there's even anything significantly bad about it. There's just no significance. It's just bland. Whilst I don't personally think the Lancia is particularly beautiful, it is at least a decent car. It's also rarer. There might nit be many Rovers left, but that's just because they've all been scrapped. Please tell me this is all a big joke.

I loved the 10 years I had with my non evo integrale, took it everywhere, from the top of Scotland to Monaco and it always left me deeply in love. it was a very sad day when I had to sell it, happy to say, it still lives on in Australia where is goes out to play in the odd rally.

Delta HF Turbo i.e had the same wheel design (maybe an inch smaller), interior and dash. Mine looked exactly the same inside as Ben's 'grale. Great front wheel drive fun, handled amazingly well.

What they don't mention, of course, is that the Lancia was HIDEOUSLY unreliable even when new, and as the years have gone on it has only gotten worse. Lancia could be the least reliable car made, which is why they've gone broke so many times. As bad as the Rover is, it's mostly Honda underneath. The Japanese are fine engineers. Meanwhile, it would be unfair to apes for me to compare Italians to them.

Great choice for a daily driver, and a fairly unique one as well. I wonder what car Ben would drive if cost, repairs, etc. was not an issue. If you could choose a car to drive free for life, which car would it be? For me, it's the LFA or the 812 Superfast, even though I've never driven either.
