Richard, I've owned 2 WRX's. I loved them both. The first was a year older than this one. The second was a 2015. Both were the best driving experiences of my life. The focus, the heightened awareness, of driving these cars was joyous. Thank you for capturing the spirit of the experience!

I'd say reviewing their own cars could even improve on the Top Gear formula if that's possible. You can tell Hammond LOVES this car, just the same as Jeremy's old tests on stuff like that coach built Alfa, or his segment about Lancias. It's a genuinely beautiful thing to see this kind of outpouring of passion for a car, we more of this.

I grew up watching Richard, but now I’m older I can appreciate how good he actually is with words. He does such a good job of explaining how something feels in a precise, but poetic way. When he said “and I suspect you are too” in regard to being the type of person to want a car to be cartoonish, you actually feel like he’s involving YOU, not just speaking about himself and how it feels to him. As an audience we WANT WANT WANT this type of content. Please keep doing stuff like this💙💙

Yeah everything Hammond said about the car that it has it’s own personality, it’s planted down to the ground to the point you feel like your on rails, and it feels like what you’d expect when you think of performance because it does everything and more and until you drive one you probably won’t really even understand it because I know I didn’t and from the moment I got it my expectations for it were so much lower than how great it ended up being

This has TG nostalgia. It brings about a sensation of the joy that Hammond has with cars, with presenting. Remembering how Hammond talked about Sabine Schmitz in the TG tribute video, the last few seconds of that video he says, and I quote: “ 'You watch those films with her in again and just watch her smile. Watch her expressions when she was driving right on the ragged edge, even in those moments she was happy to give in to the joy of it.” Watch Richard’s face in this video. Watch the joy in his face, the passion in his voice and body language. You can’t fake that. And for every video he alone, or with the other two should decide to make, it will bring smiles to our faces to. Gotta love it :D

I had a 2004 standard WRX STi (if any WRX STi can be called "standard"!). Honestly, the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Incredible handling, effortless power. It's like a limpet, the way it grips the tarmac, no matter how hard you cane it.

Best Hammond video in a long time. Sums up exactly why I love my STI, character. It’s not particularly fast but it’s about the feel and sounds. More videos like this please.

The fact that you can get that kind of a reaction from someone who's been on any form of crazy vehicle for the past couple of decades is nothing short of an achievement for the team that created that mosnter of a car! Amazing work! Cheers!

I love that you're actually using the DCCD to change the feel of the car while driving. I've got an 06 STI and use it regularly to better my urban driving, or mountain runs. So many people I've met that also have WRX STIs never touch it.

The first time I've ever watched DriveTribe in years. Most KZbinrs come away and go to TV, but KZbin is the future and it welcomes you Richard, this video embraces it and takes me back. Very pleased to have seen and watched this, thank you.

I love when informed and experienced car guys that have driven everything under the sun, with no budget spared, get behind the wheel of one of these and can truly enjoy it! A testament to the proper car guy that Hammond is!

I have always admired these cars from afar until I nearly bought one but plumped for a Fiesta ST and never regretted it. My neighbour a lot of years ago had the MacRae 555 version then bought an RB5 and although I never drove it his partner drove myself and friends into town one Saturday evening and it cornered like it was on rails. That car you have there is a real weapon and has to be driven to be appreciated. Enjoy!!!

I actually teared up. So often you see people on YT comment in the cars they are driving with nothing to offer but numbers, stats, and opinions on their looks. It is so emotional when you see the joy on someone's face when they experience a car. That understands and connects with it. And to have that ability to transport a viewer into that experience with words, sounds, visuals, and music is a gift...the final 30 seconds choked me up. What a team Drivetribe has become. And thank you Hamster...this was epic.

owned 1 for 3 years with a 450bhp fully built engine. man do i miss that machine with every bit of sinew in my body. the car just always felt so alive, so analog and so unique. great to drive in when not in a hurry because of the massive turbo lag, as under 2800-3200 rpm it really does not go at all. but starting the car itself has always put a smile on my face. the rumble of those uneven headers combined with the boxer is just fun. it has road presence, serious performance and the only people who like this car are always the petrolheads. out of all the fun cars ive owned (megane 3 RS trophy/audi RS3/silvia S15/BMW m140i/ Blob STi) this is the one out of all i would buy again in a heartbeat.

Great video. So many cars in my time. VTR, VTS, MG160 (hmmm), WRX, WRX STi PPP, WR1, WRX STi 300S, A5 (one of first in UK), A6 Bi turbo (2013), RS6 (C7), RS5 (C8) and currently RS6 C8 (Litchfield). Loved all the cars, driving , ICE and so on. To be honest have not watched Top Gear for years, and have been watching more KZbin content creators that are doing what TG did decades ago (and I love it). So to find this this video this evening, and the one with Izzy Hammond is a joy to watch. It is about the love of cars and driving, without the silly stuff. Love it! Mark.
