Hello from Dallas, Texas. I’ve owned 8 Bentley Turbo R’s. Currently, I have a 1997 Long Wheelbase (project car)….385 Horsepower and 569 ft. lbs of torque….there is nothing else on the planet like a Bentley…..unfortunately the newer ones lack the panache of the old “real” Bentley’s. Great video and I appreciate you sharing. Kindly, Stephen

I had one back in 2009. Had some young kids try and burn me off on a dual carriageway in Indian Queens, Cornwall. I just pushed the loud pedal and left them as a dwindling speck on the horizon. I went round a roundabout going back and eventually they passed me. Three kids hanging out the windows giving me a thumbs up. I think they were surprised and impressed as to how fast and quickly these stately homes can accelerate.

Amazing! They are disturbingly fast once you wind them up properly! You need a decent stretch of ‘private’ road mind you as they seem to really hit warp drive at 70+ 🥺😬

Love it! Bit low at the back? My dad had one and I got to run around it in, loved it!

Turns out there was an issue - it let us down not all that long after this - failure of the bleed valve on the rear lines that let go quite spectacularly- see the first 2023 Le Mans video 😃

Thanks for this lovely scenic ride in a wonderful car. What a beautiful beast and so much better looking than many of the more modern versions. Saw one of these in Surrey a few years ago and immediately caught my eye as it was wearing a BTR registration to go with the overall look, fabulous!

I chuckled when he commented, "Not a RR--something more special". I've been in RR/B's long enough to remember when Bentleys were worthless (Yes! It's true). They used to convert Postwar Bentleys to RRs, because Bentley's had no status & no value. (There were even aftermarket conversion kits with all the parts.) It wasn't until they revitalized the brand that Bentley became something to covet. Good vid, by the way!

Thanks for the comment - and you make such an interesting point. It is amazing how different eras of the brand have accumulated different perceived values with different generations. I think for me, because the Bentley's came with the performance extras that the RR didn't, and my love affair with Le Mans, a Red Label is almost the cream of the crop in that era - yet, I would take a Goodwood RR over a Crewe Bentley today (The chance would be a fine thing mind you!)

Good video. I'm on my 3rd Turbo RL a 1989 20000 series. Best model as it doesn't have all the electronics & active ride & Dip display to play up of 1990 & newer cars. By the way "adequate" describes non Turbo SZ's. Adequate plus 50% describes Turbo R's : ) . I live in Calgary Canada where these cars are quite rare .When people ask what it's like to drive I say " It's like driving a car made of compressed thousand dollar bills". Also worlds fastest picnic tables : ). Addictive cars. Jay Leno got the first one in North America in 1989 & still has it. Go to : kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5bVgKKDhqhje80

well spotted - the car has a private reg on and upon checking its actually a Nov 1996 car!

@@automotivetales I was thinking it had to be newer than '93, that style interior was introduced for the 1996 model year. I've got a 1996 one, also in Yorkshire, it's not best on the narrow roads but get on the A roads and it's magical. Also as it's a '96 one it'll have 385 bhp rather than 335. It's definitely "adequate" as you discovered!

Red Label only for Arnage, not the SZ :)

Great car if you own Q8 LoL LoL 😂😂 Gas guzzling monster shaped like a brick 8 mpg is about the truth.......V8 motor yankie configuration the gearbox is American fuel system is German electrical system is AC yank again so something of a Mongrel......I'd have one just for ornamental purposes but for everyday use clumsy and impractical going cheap too
