I bought this car in February and my commute to work is 44 miles one way. Going to work is more of a decent so I get between 58mpg and 52mpg depending on how I drive. Coming back home is more of a climb so I get anywhere from 41mpg to 47mpg depending of how fast I drive. I get the 47mpg if I'm in stop and go traffic.

Just FYI, the “paddle shifters” engage the amount of regenerative braking in three different levels/settings. They do not upshift or downshift.

Thank you for letting me know !
@jeffjo87322 жыл бұрын
Four different levels. By default, even if it shows no "v" symbols, it is at level one. Click the left paddle once, and you are at level 2. Click the right paddle, and it shows one "v".
@jeffjo87322 жыл бұрын
There are two was the car uses regeneration to slow down and charge the battery: (1) Regenerative Braking - when you press the brake pedal, it chooses the best mix of friction brakes and regeneration. (2) Regenerative Coasting - when you let up on the gas pedal, it simulates engine braking. The paddles determine how strong the regenerative coasting is. This car DOES NOT have autonomous driving. It has Lane Keeping Assist. Older car have a spring that "centers" the steering wheel straight forward. This one centers it on the lane markings, but only if it sees them and you are going more than 45 mph. In other words, keep your hands on the wheel. SPORT mode does not charge the battery quicker, it tries to maintain a higher SoC so you have battery power for acceleration. ECON tries to keep you at 3 to 5 bars, NORMAL keeps you at 4 to 6, and SPORT keeps you above 5 bars.

truly impressed with the ‘22 honda sport hybrid that finally came in and surprised how refined this vehicle is for the price. with eco always engaged seems to get lower 40’s mpg on average trips/tanks but getting high 50’s on some tanks. i’m getting better at using the RBS paddles in lieu of foot braking so that’s perhaps why. Also noticed actual mpg is in line with the vehicle’s computer, unlike every Ford i’ve owned which bumps it up ~6% in favor of Ford. The speedometer is also quite accurate with GPS speeds, unlike my past Fords and Japanese motorcycles. EV ‘sings’ with a hum under 20 mph suppose to let people/animals know there’s about to encounter unyielding metal. it’s really pronounced in parking garages but almost enjoy it now when at first not. haven’t seen the battery topped off with a full charge yet but got about 80% using sport mode

Thank you for the video. I dont think i have come across a real world mpg breakdown vid of the Honda Accord sport hybrid . Been debating between the sport reg vs sport hybrid. It a couple k difference. I see your miles and range changed together about 9 mile difference. The hybrid sport with the 19” rims suppose to only have mpg at 40/44/41 or something like that. But you were getting above those #s. On a full tank of gas, what range can you get? Thanks again

Now I've driven this car over 1,000 mi. When I'm not paying attention I usually average 45 MPG. When I do want to maximize the MPG, I try to coast a lot which uses the battery engine. Once you learn how to drive the hybrid properly, you can average over 60 MPG
@realamerican322 жыл бұрын
I've got the same 2022 accord hybrid. If you drive mostly in town it's great on mileage. Also its pretty quick when in sport mode. But if your doing mostly highway driving it's hard to average even 40mpg. I drive mostly highway with average speed around 70mph. I'd say I get about 38 to 40 mpg. When in town it's in the mid 40's. If I had to decide between this or the 2.0 turbo I might go turbo. Stay away from the 1.5 turbo. There having issues.

How does HYBRID work? It sounds complicated lol
@jeffjo87322 жыл бұрын
Actually, it is quite simple. Just vastly different than what you are used to. The main drive mode is called Hybrid Drive. The engine usually runs at 2000 rpm and 34 HP, and drives only a generator. The drive motor uses as much of this electrical power as it needs, either drawing from the battery for acceleration or charging the battery while cruising. Watch the Power Flow Meter to see this (blue lines-->drive power, green lines-->charging power). If high power is needed, the engine can go up to 143 HP, and the battery can increase that to 212 HP. The engine is over 40% efficient at 2000 rpm and 34 HP. At highway speed, it will engage a clutch and match the engine's rpm to the car speed (rpm=37*mph) and still stay above 40% efficiency. It will shift into this mode automatically. You will not notice that this happens unless you watch for the gear symbol in the center of the Power Flow Monitor. In typical driving, it will save more energy in the battery than it uses for acceleration. It will switch to EV Drive to use it up.

To get the maximum regenerative braking do you have to click the -paddle shifters every time? Is their a way to set the highest region braking level without doing that continually? Thanks
@mikemurphy67572 жыл бұрын
If you put it in “sport mode” it remembers the regen braking so you don’t have to keep hitting the paddle. In “normal” or “eco mode” it resets after you apply the gas.

Also when you have to brake suddenly. You can always downshift quickly and it will slow down the car quick.
@jeffjo87322 жыл бұрын
Actually? If you learn to brake with the brake pedal at the same rate as you can with the paddles, you get the same regen. Watch the charging rate in the left of the driver's display, and don't pin it.

Hey, just try coasting as much as possible. If it's a flat road, take advantage of the EV mode and slightly push the gas pedal. I will be posting more videos. Stay tuned and sub to the channel!
@jeffjo87322 жыл бұрын
@@StackWithMe"EV Drive" is when the car decides to use battery power only (the green "EV" appears in the driver's display). "EV Mode" is when you push the idiot button (the green car symbol with "EV" blacked out appears), and it makes the car choose EV Drive more often than it normally would. You don't want to do that. It is still using gas, just gas that you burned earlier. Since there are losses in converting between AC and DC, and in using the battery, it is less efficient. What you want to do to improve mpg, is not make jackrabbit starts (easy to not realize you are doing it in this car), not drive over 70 mph, and coast to stops as much as possible.
