From the about the 0:30 to the 5:50 Part of the video is not the downtown section of Pittsburgh. It is the Uptown section or formerly known as the Hill district area Where Mercy hospital and PPG arena is located it's above the downtown area. Ross street where the courthouse is, is the cut off between downtown and the Uptown section. 20:00 to 25:10 is the Northside section where Heinz Field and PNC Park and Rivers casino is located along with Allegheny General Hospital.

Wen to school in Pittsburgh from 2013-2015, this brings back a lot of memories. Despite being on the decline for many years, downtown Pittsburgh seems pretty clean. I didn't see a single homeless tent in the video. Much better than the "booming" tech city of Seattle...

Unbelievable how devoid of people the city is compared to even the 1980s and 90s. Back then Pittsburgh was teaming with people coming and going. Buses everywhere: no where to park a car. It’s like a ghost town. So many of the great businesses gone: Kaufmans, Hornes, Gimbels, Murphys, Honus Wagner, Ralphs(?), Candy Rama, Oyster House, etc. 😢

Ralph's is gone, the sign is still there but it's closed. I really like the new target, but I wish it was the same size as the kaufmans. I'm only 20, so I always grew up with it being a Macy's, not a Kaufman's. I also never saw downtown full of business like it was in the past, but realizing that it used to be full of stores is wild. It's like looking at a dead mall.
@marial8235 Жыл бұрын
@@bandombeviews6035 It was like a mini NYC bitd. There were three major department stores, Gimbels, Kaufmans, and Hornes. There were night clubs, movie theaters, and Liberty avenue was seedy with maybe ten porn shops or so. Pegasus gay bar, Heaven straight bar, it was diverse. Art Institute students all over. Crazy how it has become deserted and for someone your age, it always was semi-deserted.

You must have a great camera in order to make 5th Ave in Oakland seem smoother than it is! Sad that with all the street work they're doing, when they finish they repave it horribly. But sadly because it's Uptown and a more poor section of town, they don't give a shit about making it smooth again. Try riding a bus through Uptown! Better hope you don't have to pee cause your bladder gets shaken about and the bus sounds like it's gonna completely fall apart.
