Keep that clutch foot on the floor, its the only proper comfortable and controlled way, she can get some mats to protect the carpet.
@shahriyarzaman4833Ай бұрын
Clutch will slip across the bottom of your shoes if you keep your heels down, it’s not about the carpet it’s about control. You will fail your test if the car jumps because of this mistake.
@keithdenyer3937Ай бұрын
@@shahriyarzaman4833 i have no trouble with not slipping off the clutch, but exact position of foot and how much sole friction will make a difference. On a similar note, some folk have their right foot in line with the accelerator then lift off the floor and put the foot in line with the brake to brake, when the proper way is to pivot the foot from one pedal to the other with the heel between.

@Arjay404Ай бұрын
15L06 he automatically went for the indicator to the left because he heard you say left when you said, "He's on your LEFT". It's a bit of a big mistake because he confused the bus (though bus driver should pay a bit more attention because it's a learner car.), but I can understand why he made that mistake, maybe something to pay attention to for future lessons, telling him way ahead of time where you are going to go (I don't think the keep going straight unless I tell you otherwise works very well at this stage because if he hears left or right in any context he's going to think about turning.), so that when you come to a intersection he knows where to go already and can better pay attention to your other instructions.

In all fairness to Gavin your instruction "to go straight" at 15:08 was very late for someone on their first driving lesson. He had less than 2 seconds between hearing you say "go straight" and reaching the giveway line.
@Yattien89Ай бұрын
You'll have noticed that if they are turning, he is told in advance. If not, it's straight. He wasn't told to turn so it's straight on. She explained in another clip that it was kind of muscle memory, they always go left there when out so he was moving to go left.
@Arjay404Ай бұрын
@@Yattien89 She also said "He's on the LEFT" which I'm guessing triggered his mind to think they were going left even though she didn't say that they (Aman and Gavin) were turning left.
@Yattien89Ай бұрын
@@Arjay404 Ya, it was a simple brain fart. Nothing confusing about the instruction, just didn't translate (for lack of a better word) well into actions. Aman mentioned on a tiktok clip too that they always turn left there (guessing when Aman is driving though of course) so Gavin went into autopilot a little. No harm done other than a slightly confused bus driver (who probably shouldn't have been so keen to move with a learner approaching anyway)
@OleKapАй бұрын
@Yattien89 nah, I won't agree that instructions were given in time at all. You can literally hear him turning left turn signal the same time she instructs to go straight. I honestly believe this "confusing" and to some extent dangerous situation wouldn't even happen in the first place if he was driving alone.

Because that is what most people drive in the uk and manual cars are cheaper than automatics here. Also, if you pass your driving test in an automatic, you will not be allowed to drive a manual car.

Right at the start of this video I noticed your nephew drove straight over the mini roundabout, with the bus approaching from the left. Is it normal pracice these days to teach learners to negotiate such roundabouts in this way ? I am a driver of 50 years experience and find that the vast majority of drivers now ignore the markings at mini roundabouts, which can be dangerous as well as being misleading for other drivers. On more than one occasion I have had other drivers overtake me on the roundabout or cut across in front of me when approaching from the opposite direction. I am now ultra careful at such locations. The design of these roundabouts in many places is not good in my opinion and I don't know what the Highway Code says about them now and I wonder how driving examiners treat them ? Would ignoring the markings result in a test fail ?
