Operating a MAX train can be a stressful gig. Teaching a TV person to do it can be even more stressful. Subscribe: / kgwnews8 Get the new KGW app: kgw.com/appred...

No doubt they must have LOTS of bus operation experience 1st. The idiocy I have witnessed as a bus RIDER by pedestrians & cars acting like they are oblivious is outrageous. Wish transit operators could snap & cite them like red light cameras do.

Portland should’ve spent the extra money and built a real subway.

I disagree, mostly. The MAX is already a VERY outsized expense for Portland's transportation budget, and a real subway doesn't make much sense for a city with a population as small as Portland's. Outside of downtown, the MAX and traffic really don't delay each other very badly, which means a subway wouldn't really provide better transit or traffic. However, the downtown loop IS very very slow with a much higher accident rate than the rest of the network, so making that part of it underground could be of genuine benefit. But drilling a subway under Gresham would just be silly. A fully underground MAX would eat up the entire transportation budget of the city for decades.

@@JETZcorp Portland is the 25th largest city in America, so that makes it a mid sized city

No, we just need to improve our light rail, and increase frequency, speed, and connectivity. The max is too slow, and infrequent for it to be very useful.
