I checked the website and it looks like it is closed due to the Bobcat fire, am I looking at the wrong location? What should I type in google to find this place? If I wanted to go one weekend, how do I check if there is snow etc

Yes, part of the highway is closed due to the Bobcat Fire. It's open up until the Redbox picnic area. We went at the end of December (a month ago) and it was open. You'll need to keep an eye on the weather to see if it snowed in the San Gabriel Mountains.
