Good advice. Something i would also add is, that improvement is not linear. Sometimes you even have a decline in performance, when learning something new, but when it is implemented in your behaviour, you will suddenly perform better. Braking out of habits can be hard, especially when focusing on just improving lap times as a whole, trying to improve little details like taking special care to brake into the apex for some sessions and then go to something different will make improving easier and more digestable. Even though i know this is the case, i sometimes fall into the trap of just driving and hoping to improve, because training is often times not as fun as just driving around, however more beneficial in the long run.

I was thinking the same thing. I jump in a new race for the week. Do an alien lap time and then I get in the habit of backing up my corners and going slow. Just so I'm consistent
@christoforospaphitis4090
@christoforospaphitis4090 3 жыл бұрын
@@levi859 wow what you said I saw it in an actual race in iracing a couple of weeks back. I qualified second but the guy in front was like 0,3s faster and I remember mutering to myself ok there's no way I can catch that guy I've never made such a time and to pull it out of the bag like that means he is much faster than me and it wasn't a draft track to allow me to keep up... Race starts I was consistently half a second faster and bullied him into mistakes. I then saw his lap times and they were all over the place. Yes raw speed is important as a benchmark and to prove you have the speed but it's better to be consistent and that comes with practice and analysis

I have the raw talent... I just got in and could drive and had no idea about anything to do with racing. Now that I'm honing my skillz and understanding what I'm doing naturally by putting a name with it has helped so much. Just because you have talent doesn't mean you can't be better every day. My driving has become almost unbeatable. The only one who beats me is.... me. LOVE YOUR VID'S MAN! I'm finally one of those Alien's but I don't plan on stopping any time soon.

Love the way you talk and explain things to people. I'm a totally beginner, so even basic videos are great for me and possibly for many others. Looking forward to watching you explaining tracks and breaking points, decisions, etc... You must have so much to teach with your experience. And I'll watch absolutely everything. The video editing is a plus as your videos are very well produced. But I'd watch them even if you don't put so much time and effort in the editing. You have valuable content regardless of special effects. So all I can say is your videos are top quality in all aspects. Hope you have a happy life, but if you ever feel sad at any point, remember you built a community of people who love Sim racing and who are ready to help you in this. You deserve all the best.

I was not a huge fan of yours, mostly because of this "spiritual approach" which some may love (and I do not as much) but I have to say -- this video opened my eyes and thank you for that from the bottom of my heart. "The wall" you cannot climb is built when you stop trying something else and analysing in-depth how you drive. One of the worst habits for me was not being patient enough. It felt very weird at first when I was coasting for a whole second at pouhon (felt like an eternity) but proved to be much faster than previous "I have to give some input through my pedals, let me trail a little more / dab a throttle". Guys do not be afraid of being slower trying something else - I have found much time to cut by doing so ;) It is like swimming - you can make it very hard for yourself when you try too much. It is good to try something else and just see how it worked out for you.
@chepilevski

That was really honest and beautiful post ! I didn’t realize I sound spiritual in my videos and honestly I’m not at all and I’m only interested in pure science 😃 I hope there is no people around who follow the channel because they believe I’m spiritual because that will be false 🤭 with the time I’m sure I will reveal my true identity but I’m happy to read your message as it gives me picture how I sound 😃 I talk about positivity but not from the spiritual point of view but from the scientific one and I truly believe in that ! We became what we think about and I know that is written in every spiritual and scientific book and there is a reason behind that and that is how our brain function! Conscious and subconscious mind fighting each other all the time and all I try to bring in my channel is the awareness! And I’m fully aware I don’t know exactly how to bring this information out but I’m sure I will learn one day if I keep trying 💪 thx for the honesty buddy, it means a lot to me 😃

Hi, I really enjoyed your video and I have to say it brought me over a dead end. After years of ACC racing I switched to i-racing and I find it difficult to start with the mazda mx5 and cars like that. I have to learn to build something from scratch and to train myself in development and I find that difficult. With your video I know I will be able to do it. Thank you for this
@chepilevski
@chepilevski 3 жыл бұрын
Coming from those GT3 monster cars to MX5 is bit painful but if you find the way to somehow enjoy the little cars in the beginning it is super fun for racing 😃 even if those two games feels similar on first try they some how are different on the limits! I drive ACC casualty for content and I have to say I’m way off from the good times like 1-2 sec of pace mainly because I feel I don’t use the brakes properly and mostly overdrive the cars on the exit and have to make corrections ! The TC kicks all the time and is so painful for the times ! I’m sure you will be up to speed very soon if you enjoy iR and stick to it 😃

I am at that point right now where I must break my habits. My laptimes are super consistent over the whole race but not fast. I drive in the back of the pack and my clock stops around +/- 0.01s every round but I am about 1 - 1.5s too slow to catch up with the leading drivers. Breaking your habits is not easy. I also noticed that I get a lot quicker when under pressure, often more than 1s quicker in race than in training sessions. Probably because the pressure makes me break my habits unconsciously. I came for the driving lessons, stayed for the life lessons!

It's not that people can't drive , it's not that they're stupid by any means , it's something far worse intellectual laziness. They just sit there saying how how how I don't understand etc but they never take the initiative to put any effort into really thinking about things. The slow ones need to be told things while the fast ones go and find things out for themself. The reason this guy came to these conclusions is he put thought and effort into finding these things out on his own. I can guarantee all the fastest drivers are self taught for the most part. This doesn't mean not to listen to others advice , but to take some initiative.

I don’t know if I can describe as laziness or mostly lack of curiosity! We are awesome creators borne with amazing amount of curiosity and we start losing it somehow with the time ! I believe we all still have it and sometimes we just need to woke it up ! My main goal in this channel is to try and bring back that curiosity with little spark ⚡️ and not just for racing but for everything as life becomes so colorful and fun if you look into every problem with that curiosity instead of frustration 😃

Excellent vid, I'm no "alien" but I'm getting there, learning this WAS possible is the 1st step. To do so you HAVE to step out of your comfort zone, most important are practice practice practice and RELAX, if you're tense or would up you'll never set the required instincts. I learned this when I got my 1st wheel This was back in the days of Race Driver Grid, I was quick with a controller but was ALWAYS passed by the guys with wheels. So I got one and mistakenly expected instant results, even after 1-2 MONTHS I was no faster... AAAARGGGHHH! Did I waste all that money for no benefit???? So along came Dirt 3 I played from the outset with a wheel only, after 2-3 months I got much MUCH better results than in Grid with a much higher average finish position and a higher win/loss ratio. I then went back to Grid, Lo and Behold! INSTANTLY my lap times were all DECIMATED. Why? What had changed? Was it the added time and experience with the wheel or something else??? Then I had an epiphany, by trying learn in a game I had already established "instinctive subconscious reactions" and thought patterns with a controller. I had been using those same unconscious thought processes with the wheel. Sticking to my comfort zone... THIS was why I had failed to improve, instead of making progress I had allowed stagnation to be the driving force. By removing myself from the game and playing something new to me, I was only applying the racecraft instincts and not any controller instincts, over the 3 months in Dirt I'd inadvertently overwritten the controller instincts with a new set of wheel instincts. From that point on I've used a new game or one I've not played for a LOOOONG time to attempt to establish new habits, whenever I upgrade hardware or want to try new techniques, I step away from my favourite game into a new arena or an old one I've not played in for a significant length of time. It's not instantaneous, it still takes time and practice but, it DOES make it a smoother process and MASSIVELY less frustrating. The net result is I've gone from being reasonably quick to challenging for top times in time trials and clearing out multiplayer lobbies. the intelligent ones stick around and ASK the important questions "How the HELL are you so fast...?" even the dreaded "You MUST be CHEATING to be that fast!" will ALWAYS garner the reply "If you want to KNOW how watch a race if you want to LEARN how ask and I'll TRY and help you to improve, like with training sessions I will HAPPILY watch you lapping a track and point out what you're doing well, what errors I can see you making and HOW to avoid them in future." I'm sure You'll agree here, it's actually MORE fun to be pushed by fast drivers in hectic respectful races than it is to wipe the floor with 90% of racers, by passing on the knowledge we've learned we make the games we play more FUN for everyone. I'm betting that's WHY you make these videos too.

Man , that was a beautiful post to read ❤️ you absolutely right in everything you wrote 💪 and by the way as you said at the end , one of the most beautiful races I had I lost them by fraction! Probably that how our human brain works ! We are excited to find the patterns to how and ones we find the way we start loosing interest! The beauty of racing is there is always someone better then yourself and your brain never rest and is keeping the excitement to find different patterns 😃

Very nice. The algorythm brought me here. To be honest I would like to add something that I have heard somehow Sir Jacky Steward or e.g. Walter Röhrl saying within one or the other documentary and adapt it to any driving on the road, or on the track, sim racing or reallife. Allways start driving a car very slow at the lowest RPM you feel that is possible. Drive the perfect line within the rules of your driving mission (e.g. in normal road traffic never cut a corner but do it whilest staying on your side of the road). The moment you notice you will need RPM because of your engine itself or for getting the car stabelized or a million other reasons you can increase the RPM. Stay as low RPM as possible and steer as less as possible and drive as accurate as possible. Than you will notice, that you´re automatically getting faster. The moment you can handle it even automatically your RPM increases as well if necessary and you will get quicker and quicker.

Great video again. I am really forward looking what are those methods what you use to break old driving habits. I saw one what you mentioned earlier that go and drive some other car and try to think when you drive it how it behaves different compared to your maincar and try to analyse it. So really looking forward coming videos. What i have myself tried to do is when i do practise laps it i think track is something i know somehow how to drive around it i try not always do alone, hotlaps trying to drive fastest possible track with ideal line. But i may drive some other not optimal line what i would be needed sometimes to drive in race, or i may wait another cars driving on track and try to trail them trying to practise race situation and driving close to other car. I have understood that it is ocmpletely another thing to hotlap really fast lap alone in empty track but then do consistent, good laps in race situation 30 times or more, or 100 laps in endurance racing what i love when you have 30 or 40 other cars same time in track with different speed, different classes etc. Still learning and trying to read and watch training guides, analyse my own training and laps in telemetry software and also some competion situation expecially if there are accidents what i did and what i could have done to have different outcome.

Excellent vid not many people could take this "gameplay" to such level where you essentialy take you yourself as a tool to reach your goals imstead of just the car/sim/rig ..proper i took same kind of advice previous and its the same with all things im life. You just cannot expect to sit on a couch all day and such move yourself to a rig and post an alien time. Not happening. To me simracing in terms of dedication is almost like surfing. @@chepilevski passion for racing and motorsports is something that is discovered at an extremely young age. I remember when I was 5 years old, my father used to take me to watch rally and truck obstacle clearing. The first scene I remember was hearing a Gr. B Audi Quattro and suddenly coming out of a corner blinding me with its lights and the next thing I know I was seeing it's tail lights on the next mount and showering me with pebbles and dirt. That was it, I was instantly in love! From then on I would go on with my father who was a team principal at Fairways in Cypru) to watch and even participate in rallies(well waterboy and sandwich provider to the mechanics).
