Driving Skyline Drive in Cañon City, Colorado

I grew up in Canon City, and would drive up Skyline every now and again when I was in high school. It was a nice way to get away from the world for a little while, and the views really are beautiful! Thank you for highlighting a feature that a lot people driving through Canon miss completely!

Loved the tour of the Downtown Historic District, one of Colorado's hidden gems. So many folks drive right by on Hwy 50, without even knowing it's there. Well worth stopping and taking a stroll for an hour or two.

As jawdropping as this drive is on video, it's a whole extra level of wow when seen on Google Earth with 3D view enabled. The road's path, along the crest of an improbably narrow outcrop that looks more like a half-buried serpent than a mountain ridge, is astounding in its weirdness.

WOW! Just don't drive up there w/an enemy behind you in another car. No guardrails, yikes! Just insane views. Scary, nail-biting drive. Not for everyone, but, I would do it! Thanks! Love the pics at the end.

Enjoy watching the videos of this road. Always funny to heard the women go nuts. LOL I think they actually found dinosaur prints up and the top. There is signs indicating this. Right before there's nothing on both sides of the road.. Looks like a very interesting drive. Haha.

Sad you can't see the Dinosaur footprints that are embedded in the rock face along the side of the drive in this video, but it is a nice viewing area my favorite time is at night when you can look across the lights of Cañon City.
